Heiberg Brewing Company of Waverly received its Iowa charter becoming the first firm in the state authorized to produce the new beer. The plant will be reconditioned, with first brews planned for July. The firm is capitalized at $300,000, employing about 25 at start, with capacity up to 100,000 gallons after expansion. Improvements total about $75,000.

Three Tripoli boys who work as carrier salesmen for The Des Moines Register and The Des Moines Tribune have been invited by publisher Gardner Cowles to attend the fourth annual carrier salesmen convention in Des Moines on Monday June 12. American Legion Auxiliary members sold 400 poppies in Tripoli Frederika and Readlyn. They made 54 wreaths for veterans graves in seven county cemeteries led by the Tripoli post. Death summons Herman Zander after sudden stroke
Herman Zander, 58, longtime resident, died Friday evening May 26 at his home after a brief illness following a stroke. Survived by his widow and brothers Louis and Chris, funeral services were held at the house then St. Peter's Evangelical church, with Rev. Theo Thomas officiating. Harold Frese Mildred Hankner and Rosemary Brewer of Tripoli Iowa completed degrees at the spring term exercises held Monday May 29. Miss Laura Clausen of this city died May 23 in Waterloo from a heart condition. funeral services followed in Waterloo and here with burial in Harlington cemetery. Clausen, born March 29, 1905 in Denver, Iowa, is survived by brother Walter Clawson and half-siblings Ona and Robert Meyers, plus grandmother Emma Renner.

Louis Trumpower, 68, died at his home on Thursday evening May 25 after a stroke. He had been ill for about two years, with leg infection leading to amputation. Survived by widow, two daughters Eva Soldwisch and Mrs. Frank Schroedermeier, son James Trumpower, and three brothers.
