William F Gettle, once abducted, is back with his family. Three captors face life terms. June Robles, found chained and filthy, is reunited with relatives near Tucson Arizona. The Tripoli High School faculty for next year includes most current teachers with new contracts. Milroy and Ensminger decline. Milroy has five years at second grade while Ensminger completes two years. New hires include Oleson Chesebro Boyle Conklin and three junior high staff shaping a reorganized, departmentally based program pending building progress. Supt Belknap will teach physics and Latin after postgraduate work.
American Savings Bank will issue a second 10 percent dividend on all Trust Certificates starting June 1. The total payout is about $16,000. The first 10 percent dividend was paid roughly six months ago.
Fremont No. 2 known as Crane Creek school will hold a program Friday evening May 25 at 8 oclock. Miss Irma Meyer teacher and pupils extend a cordial invitation to the public. The annual school picnic will be held on the school grounds Sunday May 27.
Mr and Mrs Fred Duecker received a letter from their son Waldron stating he and Randolph Matthiesen of this place with other C C members were moved last week from the camp at Ft Des Moines to Lost Corners Arkansas about 40 miles from Russell Arkansas.
Miss Ida Meyer and Clarence Bodermann were married at Evan gelical church Buck Creek on Thursday May 11 at 2 PM Rev M Kleinan officiated with a double ring ceremony. About 35 guests attended. The bride wore blue silk crepe with a veil and carried carnations. The groom is part of the Bodermann family farmed by his father. After the ceremony guests went to the bride’s parents home for a 5 PM wedding dinner. The couple will live on the groom’s father’s farm 14 miles west of Spring Fountain.
All members of the American Legion Auxiliary are requested to meet at the Legion hall on Monday afternoon May 28 at 1 30 to assist with making memorial wreaths for Legion men to decorate veterans graves on Memorial Day. Please bring scissors or a small knife.
Mr and Mrs Gustave Boeckman hosted a May 16 birthday party with cards and visiting then a late lunch. Attendees included Mrs Anna Ladage from Waverly, John Boeckman and sons Clarence and Lavern of New Hampton, Louis Schwartz and family, H F Schmidt and family, N R Ambrose and family, Erwin Boeckman and family, and Louis Neuendorf, northwest of town.
The Tripoli high school will award diplomas to 18 students Friday evening at 8 in the opera house. Rev. Theo Thomas will deliver the commencement address, with three selections by the glee clubs. Graduates include Pearl Bathke James Bennett Herbert Blume Fred Crinklaw Margaret Eichmann Arline Fink Ted Frese Marie Geffert, Orval Harmening Elvera Kelling Stanley Koch Dahlia Krueger Irene Moeller Irene Schlichting Loraine Schwein Herman Sien Margaret Webrand Viola Williams.
The 21 member eighth grade graduating class was treated to a five o'clock three course dinner Tuesday at the Legion hall. Prof and Mrs Belknap and several couples attended as guests, hosted by the students' mothers with yellow and white decorations and a motto, The bank of education never fails.

Due to Memorial Day on Wednesday, Tripoli business houses will close at 10 a m and reopen at 5 p m. Ed Lange of Waterloo visited Thursday at the home of his niece, Mrs Ella Kuker.
On May 26 the people of Tripoli will be offered red poppies to wear in memory of World War dead and to support living veterans. American Legion Auxiliary members will collect contributions and distribute flowers in Readlyn and Frederika, with local juniors canvassing homes.
Memorial Sunday services will be held at the Congregational church on May 27 starting at 10 45 o clock. Memorial Day services will be held at the Tripoli opera house on Wednesday May 30 at 10 00 o clock The program includes introductions hymns invocations readings by J J Chadwick and Shirley Hale music by the band a memorial address by S C Jacob son and Erwin Gaede The Tripoli Band will play Lincoln Gettysburg Address will be read graves decorated by sons of Legionaires with taps and a salute to the nations dead Note Legion and Auxiliary members should meet at the Legion hall at 10 o clock Sunday May 27 and at 9 30 on Memorial Day for marching lines
Bremer County Taxpayers league elected Albert Oltrogge as chairman and Charles Bills as secretary for a 12 month term at annual session in Waverly Monday. William Rodemeier stood in for absent president Phil Bloeser while E H Homan served as secretary. Candidates for county office spoke on taxes and a three person committee was appointed to urge county officers to donate a percentage of salaries to the poor fund. committee members are John Griese James Keough and Albert Oltrogge.
The St Peter’s Evangelical church baccalaureate service was well attended with the church auditorium at capacity. Rev Thomas led the sermon as local families and friends gathered for a full evening of readings and reflection.
Mrs. C. J. Brodie died suddenly of a heart attack at her home in the city on May 17 after a visit to Independence. She was born August 28, 1880 in Plainfield, Iowa and is survived by her husband, one son Max, two stepchildren Fern Blodgett and Leonard Blodgett, a brother Frank Lynes, and sister Edith Collins. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church with Rev. V. C. Oltrogge and burial in Plainfield. Mrs. Walter Winchell, 59, died at home after months of illness. She spent time at Iowa City hospital and Mercy hospital. Survivors include husband, two sons Glen and Clark of Waverly, daughter Julia Bartholomew of Chicago, sister Bertha Wright of Lancaster, Calif., and brother Gus Kanneman of Magella, Minn. Funeral services were held at Kaiser funeral home with burial in Harlington cemetery.
