Names of 120 Bremer County eighth graders completing the year were released as the group nears final week. Donald Douglass of Leroy No 1 held highest honors. Robert Buss of Jefferson No 3 received the DAR history medal. Honor roll includes many students from Fremont, St Pauls Readlyn, Polk, Douglas, and Immanuel Lutheran.

Mappenworth chaired the program, and Mrs. Albert Oberlie led the banquet committee. Nancy Hoppenworth received a gift with Mrs. L. C. Bang honored as oldest mother. Mayor William F. Tripoli honors war dead with Memorial Poppy distribution by American Legion Auxiliary. About 150000 volunteers, mostly women, make crepe paper poppies in hospitals and working rooms, earning roughly half a million dollars this year for veterans and children. In 1951 the distribution reached about 30 million poppies.

Mother-Daughter Banquet Sunday Eve at Congregational Church

Mrs Henry F Krueger Rites Held at Denver
Funeral services for Mrs Henry F Krueger 74 were held May 17 at Matthias funeral home and St Johns Lutheran Denver with interment in Fairview Cemetery Denver. She was born January 15 1878 at Tripoli and married Henry F Krueger February 23 1899. Survived by husband two sons Alfred and Alvin, one daughter Mrs Richard Platte, twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren, three sisters.
