Tripoli High Earns Division II Ratings in State Music Contest

Tripoli High School competed at Monona last Saturday earning two Division II ratings in large group, with the boys and girls glee clubs both rated Division II under Harold Frese. The concert band and mixed chorus received Division III ratings.

Erling Lohmann Named Local Technician for Insemination

Erling Lohmann of Tripoli has been chosen as the local technician for Barber Insemination Service based in Mason City. He completed a training course in Cary Illinois, inseminated about 400 cattle, and studied Curtiss foundation pedigrees. The Curtiss college has graduated over 600 technicians in five years.

Commercial Club to Hear Agricultural Expert Ebbing

Tripoli Commercial club hosts its regular meeting at the town hall next Monday. Dinner at 7, served by St. Peter's for the event. Bernard Ebbing of Waterloo, an agricultural expert with Rath Packing Co., will speak with color slides on forces shaping production and meat supply trends. He is a noted hog production authority and livestock show judge. Reservations due by Friday.

Tripoli Commercial club members and other locals are invited to inspect the Schield Bantam Co. plant on Tuesday May 24. The company will host a noon luncheon and then conduct an afternoon tour. Directors are confirming attendance with a cap of 30 per group due to limited facilities.

Two Car Crash Causes $150 Damage on Main Street

A two vehicle collision on Main Street Tuesday morning caused about $150 in property damage. Mrs. Edwin Kammeyer drove a pickup that struck a car driven by Mike Haskovec, who worked for Wm. Ambrose Auto Co. The car belonged to Erling Lohmann. Haskovec was returning from a test drive when the pickup pulled away from a parked position in front of Colburn Feed Mill.

Glennys Richmann and Robert Wedemeier to marry in July

Gottfried Goetz father of Reverend William F. Goetz pastor of Grace Lutheran church underwent major surgery in Bismarck North Dakota last Friday. He remains critically ill but is reported to be improving as well as can be expected given his age of 75.

Centennial events planned for Denver June celebration

Denver announces plans for the Centennial from June 9 to 11. Men must grow beards or pay a $2 shaving permit and wear two of four specified items. women must wear a Centennial skirt and bonnet or face Kangaroo court. A dress parade with cash prizes is planned for June 11, with contests across age groups. Lawrence Heinemann of the Commercial club says antiques will line store windows starting June 1.

Tripoli's high school baseball team nears season's end with two county rival matchups. Friday afternoon Waverly hosts the Go-Hawks and next Monday Tripoli travels to Sumner for the finale.

Last Rites for James T Farrill in Waterloo

Funeral services were held Wednesday for James T. Farrill 72 who died Sunday at his Waterloo home of a heart attack. Burial at Rose Hill cemetery Fredericksburg. Surviving wife Edith May Swanger a son Virgil Readlyn three daughters and 13 grandchildren. He was born 1882 in Hawkeye and lived on farms near Fredericksburg before moving to Waterloo.

Navy Seaman Robert Sievers Returns Home

Robert Sievers, son of Mr and Mrs Tony Sievers, returned to his parents home last Thursday after four years in the navy. He was discharged after four years of service with most duties in the Pacific area. He has no definite plans for the future.

Banks in Bremer County to Close for District Convention

All banks in Bremer county will be closed next Wednesday May 18 to allow personnel to attend the district bankers convention in Waverly. Waterloo Attorney to Deliver Memorial Day Address

Waterloo attorney Bernard R. Balch will give the memorial day address at the annual services sponsored by Tripoli veterans organizations. Balch, a World War II veteran, will speak in Tripoli Town Hall on the morning of May 30 with cemetery services to follow.

Auto Collision West of Sumner Injures Two

Two South Dakota residents were seriously hurt Sunday afternoon in a crash two miles west of Sumner on Highway 93. Dr. K. B. Hoyne and his wife, Centerville, were in a 1954 Nash traveling south when a stop sign violation by Reuben Plagens of Trilopi caused a collision with a 1955 Ford. Plagens, who was uninjured, was hospitalized for observation and released.

Two Churches Unite for Vacation Bible School Here

Congregational Christian and Evangelical and Reformed churches will again join for Daily Vacation Bible School led by Rev. L. E. Gatch and Rev. E. F. Puhlmann. Verlaine Hartman daughter of Mr and Mrs Paul Hartman Tri poli wed Marvin Knoploh son of Mr and Mrs John Knoploh Sumner in a double ring ceremony at Grace Lutheran church.
