First Polio Shots Given in Sumner Schools
Children in Tripoli and Surne ing school districts received initial polio vaccines in Sumner on Tuesday morning. Local pupils rode school buses to the clinic and faced the shot with little fear, perceived as a fun trip. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Tegtmeier 79 were held Sunday at Rettig Funeral Home and St. Peter’s Evangelical and Reformed Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. She died of a heart attack after illness. born December 27 1875 in Jefferson township. Survived by sons Ewald and Alfred, daughters Reinholdt Foelske and Alma, two brothers William and Ernest Haase, and sister Mrs John Koch. Husband Fritz Tegtmeier died in 1930.
