At a Monday meeting, shareholders discussed redeeming shares issued to partly invest in the Rock Island project now owned by a private industrial entity. The stock plan and ownership accrue into 60 percent held by the company. Directors elected included Herbert Biesterfelt and H Kuhrt to fill expiring terms.
The Tri announces proofs of the children's pictures by Waltz Des Moines are ready and will be displayed at Town Hall on March 29 at 9 a.m. Notices have been sent, a studio representative will show the work to parents, and color copies may be purchased. No obligation to display any picture.
A community notice lists plans to honor longtime Plainfield physician Dr Wagner, hospitalized but active in special projects. Requests for recent wallet photos 3x4 inches and letters of appreciation should be sent to Miller at 8 Plainfield Iowa 50666 or Rosella Stickman, with gifts to the Far State B. k. Briggs fund. Extended deadline to April 5 allows participation.
Bremer county residents may now pay their personal and property taxes as 1967 taxes due in 1968. The first half is delinquent June 18 and the second half October 1. Tax delays were caused by state inability to certify levies to the counties earlier.
Mrs. Wm Brandhorst and Mrs. Carl Ryan attended a secretary's educational workshop at UNI in Cedar Falls today. The event took place on Wednesday and focused on professional administration skills.
Tripoli area residents are asked to place items in goodwill bags for pickup by the Boy Scouts on Saturday April 6. Bags go to all homes Friday and Saturday March 29-30. Accepts nonworking small appliances and clothing. Goodwill Industries will repair and resell. supports Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa.
Fifth annual benefit basketball games at Tripoli High School gymnasium Friday March 29 begin at 7:00 p m. Fifth graders face sixth graders, then THS varsity boys play the faculty. Proceeds go to the athletic fund for uniforms and equipment. Admission charged for all attendees including participants.
Mrs. H. W. Peters, after a stay at Mercy hospital in Waverly, returned to her home Saturday.
Walt Steward was named president of the 1968 Tripoli Community Chest at the organizational meeting held March 26. Officers include Wm D Kuker as vice president Donna Sassman secretary Doris Callanan treasurer and David Ray campaign chairman. Committee chairs announced include Auditing Elizabeth Buhr and Glantha.
Graveside service for the infant son of Mr and Mrs Larry Spencer was held this Wednesday afternoon in Alcock Cemetery. The infant was born at Allen Memorial Hospital Waterloo Sunday morning and lived only a few hours. He is survived by his parents and one brother Larry Jr

Laverne Nacke of Sumner is named plant manager at the C H Farm Services Center opening in Tripoli on Monday April 1. The center will offer a full line of F S farm supplies with an open house planned April 4 and 5 from 9 a m to 4 p m featuring door prizes discounts and refreshments.

No school for Tripoli kindergarten through sixth grade on Friday due to parent teacher conferences. Grades seven through twelve will hold regular classes while elementary students are released early for conferences.
Tripoli Senior Citizens hold a regular meeting on Wednesday April 3 with a 6:00 potluck supper followed by a short program and business meeting. Cards will provide entertainment and all area seniors are welcome.
La Porte City will host the 3rd District American Legion and Auxiliary spring conference on Saturday March 30. More than 350 representatives are expected from Benton Black Hawk Bremer Butler Franklin Grundy Hardin Marshall Tama and Wright counties. Elections for district officers and delegates to the national convention in New Orleans September 6 to 12 will be held and meetings will run from 8 to 9 a.m. and continue after a noon banquet.
A regional workshop titled Total Financial Planning for the Handicapped will take place Thursday April 4 at 730 p.m. in the Community Services Building Waterloo. Mrs. Laura Knox regional director of the Iowa Association for Retarded Children invites members and interested persons to attend. A panel of experts including a trust officer insurance planner attorney and association staff will lead discussions on practical options for handicapped children. Northeast region counties Allamakee Black Hawk Bremer Butler Chickasaw Clayton Floyd Fayette Howard Mitchell and Winneshiek have special invitation.
At the March 20 meeting the Board of Supervisors opened sealed bids for a county radio system including a 60 watt Motorola base station two remote control stations and six 40 watt Motorola mobile units with antennas The high bid came from the Dysart Fire Department for 1602 dollars 52 cents Six bidders participated in the process.
Residents and visitors gathered at Tripoli Nursing Home for Sophia Bock's birthday observance on March 22 with friends and relatives including the Schroeder, Bock, Bergmann, Koeneke, Weiskirch, Biermann, and Larson families. Local guests from Duluth Readlyn Waterloo and Sumner called or visited through the week.
Dr. Don Mirick, 48, of Clinton and former resident of Tripoli, died Saturday in a two-car collision north of Fulton across the river. Funeral services were held in Clinton. He served as Clinton county medical examiner and taught band at Tripoli over 30 years ago. Survived by his widow Dorothy, four children, and his mother, Mrs. Barbara Mirick.
The Iowa Division of the American Cancer Society announces new living memorials for December 1, 1967 through March 1. Memorials honor departed individuals including Mrs. Clarence Bodermann, Mrs. Irma Brown, Mrs. Theodore Diercks, and Mrs. Theo Platte in Bremer County.
A Social Security Administration district representative will be in Waverly at the Court House on April 8 and 22 from 9 to 11 a.m. and in Sumner at City Hall on April 16 from 9 to 11 a.m. Call the Waterloo district office at 525 West 5th Street for alternatives.
Marilyn Blume of Tri poli tops Cedar-Wapsie with a 37.1 ppg average and 53 percent from the field and 75 percent free throws. She earns Des Moines Register all-state honor roll. Teammate Sue Pleggenkuhle and Cedar-Wapsie players Jane Wendland Janice Langholz earn first and second teams with several honorable mentions across Wapsie Valley Fredericksburg and Dunkerton.
Eighteen people from five towns met in Tripoli Town Hall to outline plans for a permanent Bremer county tourism group. The aim is to promote local points of interest and aid the Northeast Iowa Tourism Council across Area No 1, with an April 3 meeting to elect officers and representatives.
Ronald Henninger returned to San Francisco Thursday after visiting three weeks with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Selck and other relatives.
Bremer county cancer drive will start April 1 with 300 volunteers contacting businesses and homes. About 50 percent of donations fund research. over 70,000 dollars in Iowa grants were given last year. Ten percent or more supports families in need and some counties keep over twenty percent for local use. Several charity chairs and towns including Tripoli Denver and Sumner are listed for coordination and educational outreach.
