School board approves an eight percent raise for teachers with base pay at 6200 dollars. With BA or BS degrees and experience, bases rise to 6417 and 6634 dollars respectively, MA degree holders start at 6742 dollars, with top salaries reaching 8587 for BA and 9810 for MA after 11 years. Extra duty pay possible for coaching and music.
Tripoli Development Corporation schedules its annual meeting for Monday at 8 00 p m in Town Hall correcting a prior report The event includes election of one director a year in review and future plans Stockholders may vote per share or by proxy and are urged to appoint proxies using attached cards
Readlyn joins three other Iowa communities in a Des Moines meeting of the State Traveling Library board as the Readlyn Library earns a federal matching grant of 34 542 to aid construction. The grant exceeds the bond plan by 1152 after Readlyn voters approved a 20000 community bond by 75 percent earlier this month.
Tripoli High plans a Friday March 29 benefit basketball doubleheader at Tripoli Community School. The fifth graders face sixth graders at 7 00 p.m. followed by the boys varsity against the faculty. Proceeds support the athletic fund for uniforms and equipment. Admission required for all attendees including participants.
The Mason City based Kinny-Lindstrom Foundation awards a $10,000 grant. The gift will support local programs and community projects aligned with the foundation’s charitable goals.
THS wrestlers being honored at a Commercial Club dinner in Town Hall include Roger Buchholz Jander Harms Logen Harms and Nelson head wrestling Richard Harms assistant Samuelson gave a talk on wrestling and the high school program. Melvin Kramer of Wart served as speaker discussing investments finance and credit before 35 attendees.
A busy list of local residents including Mrs. August Biermann and Mrs. Erwin Biermann attended birthday greetings for Clara Biermann. Several families from Readlyn and Waterloo stopped by to visit relatives such as Otto Buls and Mrs. Wm. Bentley Sr., reflecting a close-knit town social scene.
Denver Sunset Home announces its annual meeting at St. Pauls UCC at 7 30 p m on March 22 open to the public. Three new directors will be elected. Current directors include Henry Eggena chairman Harold Meier Charles Besch Walter Woebeking Ervin Bruns Lorenz Matthias Dr E H Stumme Bill Schumacher Arthur Diercks Rollis Jensen.
The Young Homemakers Club sponsors a bake sale on Saturday March 23 at Tripoli Plumbing and Heating. Sale starts at 10 00 a m. Proceeds support club activities.
Mr and Mrs Eldon Meier and their family moved Saturday to a farm north of Tripoli. They purchased the property from the Herman Moeller estate, marking a new chapter for the household and their rural residence.
Iowa Highway Patrol license examining team served 83 people in the Tripoli Town Hall Saturday morning. They issued 59 operator licenses 13 chauffeur licenses nine instruction permits and two temporary driving permits. The team gave six driving tests and 11 written tests and will return on Saturday April 20.
Mr and Mrs Fred Brase visited Vernon Wikner in New Hampton Sunday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Lavern Brase and family of Readlyn were dinner guests. The Brases also called on Otto Brase in Frederika, who is a patient at St Josephs Hospital there.

ISU sociology professor Walter Lunden analyzes social, economic and rural urban differences to explain delinquency in Iowa. He argues poverty is not proof that poor children commit more offenses and notes a rising share of troublemakers come from nonpoor families.
The Iowa State Bar Association plans to file suit to compel the state to pay sales tax refunds to dependents on state income tax returns. The refunds, part of a tax measure adding over 100 million dollars annually, could reach up to 12 dollars for many Iowa families, especially children and youth. Revenue Director William Forst ruled dependents cannot receive refunds if claimed by parents, denying refunds to a child who may have earned income.

Mrs. Mary Weidemann age 81, step mother of John Weidemann, died Monday morning in Waterloo. Services were held Wednesday morning at Waterloo. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery, Denver.
Walter Kuker 72 died Sunday at Allen Memorial Nursing Home Waterloo after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held today at St. Pauls Lutheran Church Artesian with Rev G C Hattendorf officiating. Interment in church cemetery. Casket bearers were Henry F Henning Erhardt Lahmann Richard Thieman Russell Watts Ewald Beevers Rein hart Sievers. Survived by sisters Mrs Fred Poock Waterloo and Mrs Henry Schroeder Tripoli and brother Gustav Tripoli. Rettig Funeral Home in charge.
Wapsie Valley high school sends both basketball squads to the state tournament with the girls in Des Moines action and the Warriorettes aiming for a strong showing after reaching quarterfinals. Pam Gehrke led in free throws while the boys hold a 20 3 record and face Thompson at Veterans Auditorium on Thursday.
Readlyn Mutual Insurance Association teams with Far Mutual network for live full color telecasts of the Iowa boys state high school basketball tournament finals at Veterans' Auditorium Des Moines. Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Co. and Iowa county mutuals co sponsor for eighth year with American Dairy Association of Iowa. Viewers can watch on WMT Cedar Rapids or KGLO.

Funeral services for Burton H. Moeller 50 of Readlyn were held at Immanuel Lutheran Church Klinger with burial in the church cemetery He died March 15 at University Hospital Iowa City after a lengthy illness He married Kathryn Hultman on November 26 1942 Surviving are his widow three daughters three in laws four sisters and his parents preceded him in death by his parents William C and Clara Schnadt Moeller

More than 35 000 Iowans are affected as the state Department of Public Safety implements a new motorcycle licensing program. Testing begins across counties, and licenses issued before March 15 stay valid until renewal. At renewal, riders must pass a written motorcycle operation test. those who refuse or fail will receive a not valid for motorcycles restriction.
A March 21 meeting at Tri Poli Town Hall at 7:30 p.m. invites residents from all Bremer County towns to form a tourism council under Region 1. Convenor Herb Engelbrecht of Waverly leads efforts to promote northeast Iowa tourism, county parks, and the Bremer County Museum with local groups backing conservation and history societies.
The Wapsie Valley High Little Theatre hosts a three night variety show titled Its Whats Happening on April 2, 3 and 5, with 8 PM performances. Mrs. Gertrude Quade visited her son Dennis Quade at Sumner hospital on Monday afternoon. Dennis, son of the Vernon Quades of Plainfield, is a surgical patient there.
