The Tripoli Areas Inc. TART met to discuss a recreation plan for a golf course and swimming pool. They aimed for 250 members under two plans, detailing full, social, and limited memberships with $100 shares and annual dues, and instructed contacting potential members within two weeks.
Readlyn Cooperative businessmen met Feb 19 at the Community Building with about 00 attendees. Peters, manager, noted annual fees and a net savings. refunds of 7.5 percent on merchandise and 2c per loaf on farm items were discussed. Discount Days set for March 18 19 from 4 p m. to hold door prizes and doughnuts for registrants.
The February public assistance statistics show total payments of 5 323 157 dollars in Iowa with 12 373 dollars from prior payments. New case openings and closures include 38 adent children cases and three aid to the blind cases totaling 242 dollars.
The Tripoli Commercial Club will hold its regular meeting Monday March 18 in Town Hall with a 7:00 PM dinner served by the Ladies of Faith United Church of Christ. Wartburg College's Dr. Melvin Kramer will speak on investments and personal finance. The annual Tripoli Development Corporation meeting follows at 8:00 PM with director elections and other business.
Rev. Harry Feistner of Belgrade Nebraska will serve St. John Lutheran church Frederika and St. Paul Lutheran church Siegel. He and his family plan to move in mid April to assume duties.
The Iowa Highway Patrol will set up at Tripoli Town Hall on Saturday March 16 from 8:00 to noon. License renewals are issued until noon while written and driving tests end at 11:00 A.M. The examining team will not return to Tripoli until April 20.
The Tri poli Community Chest annual meeting elected Wm. D. Kuker to a three year term on the nine member board. The organizational meeting will be March 26 at 7 30 p m in the Interstate Power Co office. Remaining directors are Da vid Ray Mrs Roger Callanan Walter Steward Mrs Robert Sassman and Kuker. Retiring director is Richard Buhr.
Steven Tegtmeier, son of Mr and Mrs Lavern Tegtmeier of Iowa City attends the University of Iowa, is hospitalized at University Hospital with pneumonia and is expected to be released soon.
James Lahmann of Tripoli has been named elementary principal for the 1968 69 Sumner Community schools. He comes from seven years as a Sumner high school business teacher and succeeds M M Rogers who led the district as superintendent for nearly two decades. Lahmann is a Tripoli HS graduate with BA in business administration and economics from Wartburg College and MA in business education from the University of Northern Iowa. He is pursuing specialist in education superintendent at UNI and holds life memberships in Phi Delta Kappa Iowa Business Education Association NABE and Delta Pi Epsilon. He serves as treasurer of the NE district of the Iowa State Education Association and has been past president of the Sumner Education Association. He is a member of NEA and ISCA.
Bremer county Democratic central committee declares precinct caucuses to elect a precinct committeeman and committeewoman and delegates to county conventions. Caucus start at 8 p m at multiple sites across Bremer with listed township and town locations in Waverly Sumner Readlyn Tripoli and Denver.
Readlyn residents approved a $20,000 bond to fund a 2,464 square foot public library. The March 6 election yielded 197 yes and 60 no ballots from 257 total, a 77 percent favorable result. Project costs include $63,390 construction, a $10,000 Kinny Lindstrom Foundation grant, and $33,390 in federal matching funds, with construction slated to begin in spring.
Dale Shires announced a special meeting for doctors nurses agricultural chemical dealers farmers and other handlers of pesticides in Waterloo on March 27. The event at the Sweden House starts at 6 30 p m with a smorgasbord and requires prior reservations through the Bremer county Extension office in Tripoli. Keith R Long of the University of Iowa will discuss Pesticides and Human Health with Dr Victor Beat of the Iowa community pesticide study also attending.
The Tripoli Senior Citizens marked their first anniversary with a March 6 regular meeting. A potluck supper and anniversary cake followed, with group singing and cards. Guests attended from Frederika Denver and Waverly.

Bremer county district court has selected trial jurors for the second calendar quarter of 1968. Judge L. E. Plum mer will assign cases and sheriff will notify jurors to report. Grand jurors are summoned to report on April 1:30 p.m. to select seven members for the quarter.
Clyde C. Clary 80 was buried in Alcock cemetery after funeral at Frederika Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Gerald McGee. He born August 12 1887 in Douglas township Bremer county died March 6 at Allen Memorial hospital Waterloo. He married Bessie Stephens February 12 1913 at New Hampton and lived on a Douglas township farm before moving to Frederika in 1930. He worked in trucking until 1966 and served on town council school board and cemetery trustees. Survivors include widow a foster son Kent Stephens and three Waterloo grandchildren. Preceded by a daughter in 1927.
Frederika special meeting March 4 elected Elmer Brase and Clarence Hassman as directors to replace Irl Haynes and Erwin Drape. Firemen meet March 5. 1967 calls totaled 12 with losses over $7,000 and $20,000 of property saved. Merle Mack serves as fire chief.
Robert J. Ott, 39, of Cedar Falls, died Friday at St Marys hospital Rochester Minnesota from a cerebral hemorrhage after hospitalization since Thursday. Funeral services were Sunday at Nazareth Lutheran Church Cedar Falls with Rev Homer Larsen officiating. Interment in Garden of Memories. Born Fairbank December 3 1928 he worked in Rath Packing Co bacon processing and was an active coin dealer and in coin clubs across Iowa. Survivors include his widow two sons and two daughters at home his mother Mrs Fred Ott Arlington one sister Mrs Roger Kirkpatrick and four brothers Dale Howard Marvin and Eldon. His father and one son Steven in 1964.
Mr and Mrs Ray Buchholz were informed their son Raymond J has been promoted to Sp5 at the Nike Missile Base in Grafton Illinois The notice confirms a military promotion and the base location.
Erwin Boeckmann came back Monday from Allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo where he had been since Thursday for observation.

Inter state Power Company released its 1967 annual report detailing a new 233000 KW Clin ton generating unit, earnings per share of 1.50 with 4 018 455 shares, and rate reductions. Electric revenue rose 9 percent as gas revenue grew, while expenses climbed over 7 percent. The company projects 1968 construction at 13.1 million and a five year plan exceeding 81.8 million amid growing demand. over 23 000 shareholders and 1 156 employees received the report.
The Iowa State University Extension Service TV nutrition series presents Food to Make Ready, guiding expecting mothers on proper foods and weight control for prenatal health. The program airs March 18 at 9 15 a m on KWWL TV Waterloo with Pearl E Pardee outlining benefits for mother and baby. The segment covers prenatal growth, birth health, and early infancy food needs. A final program, Grow Kids Grow, follows on March 25.
Sunday guests gathered at the Lawrence Heideman residence to celebrate her March 2 birthday and the 57th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Peters on March 16. Attendees included Walter Peters and Janet, Leslie Heideman, H. W. Peters, W. H. Heideman, Robert Sassman and family, Romaine Brase and family, Laverne Nacke of Sumner, and H. H. Richmann of Waverly.
