Local wrestlers place high in II state tournament finals
In a weekend class II state wrestling meet at the auditorium, multiple 180 pound wrestlers contended for top placements. Zander and Carlile reached the finals with pins and near pins, while THS senior Paul dominated with a 27-0 record and 21 pins. Harms of Tripoli earned second in class A heavyweight after a 6-0 loss to Mickelson. Blasberg earned a second chance after Welch could not compete due to a leg issue, defeating Tripp before a semi final loss.

Walk Bridge Completed at Denver Conservation Park
Bremer County Conservation Board finishes a 72 by 4 foot timber walk bridge across the quarter section run near the dam in Denver. Built by the Bremer County Bridge Crew with funds from the Denver Flower Club and the Conservation Board. The bridge provides pedestrians and wheelchair users from Sunset Home in Denver access to the park.

Start Removal of The Stockwell Bridge March 11
The Stockwell bridge at the north Waverly corporate line will begin removal on March 11. The 492 foot structure is being replaced by a 503 foot bridge by Henkel Construction of Mason City, with completion estimated between May 1 and May 15. Traffic is routed on the rover's lane east of the river until the new deck and curbs are poured. The Board of Supervisors plans to sell the old radio system, sealed bids due March 20 at 10 a.m. with cash terms.

THS Wrestlers Reach State Qualifiers In Class A
Four THS grapplers earned state tournament berths. Steve placed fourth in state at 103 pounds as a sophomore with a 15-12-2 season. Roger Buchholz, at 127 pounds, lost 7-1 to Jerry Bothwell of Tri-Center. Bothwell won the title. Roger, a THS junior, finished 19-8. More photo highlights are on page three.

International Minerals and Chemical Corp bowling team topped the 1968 women's city event at Tripoli Bowl with a 2696 handicap series. Funeral Services for August Krueger at Faith United Church
Funeral services for August Krueger 82 are set for 2 p m Saturday March 9 at Faith United Church of Christ Tripoli with Rev Keith D Sel berg officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He died after being taken to Allen Memorial hospital Tuesday afternoon for observation. Krueger was a longtime bank director at American Savings Bank Tripoli and presently held a bank vice presidency.

Mrs. L J Magnall learned Tuesday that her father C A Scheerer of Boone suffered multiple injuries in a Monday night crash. He has a fractured vertebrae and ribs and a severe head wound, and is in Mary Greeley hospital ICU in Ames.
