Albert A J Anderson died at his home near Tripoli on March 2 1932 at age 67 years 2 months 19 days from pneumonia. Born December 12 1864 in Union County Ohio he married Maggie Countryman December 1 1891 who died February 9 1892. He married Mary Richardson August 5 1893. They lived near Fredericksburg Iowa then Waterloo then a farm near Tripoli. He and Mary had five children Glenn Frank Ruth Mary. daughter Della died in 1907 aged six. Survived by widow four children five grandchildren two sisters and one brother. Funeral at Tripoli Congregational Church conducted by Rev E F Byers with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery Fredericksburg.
Ladies of the Lutheran Aid plan a quilt display at the Legion hall on Wednesday afternoon and evening March 16. Free refreshments will be offered, a small admission fee will be charged. All are invited.

Washington takes aim at a sweeping one billion dollar tax rise. The bill taxes almost all goods from baby rattles to grand pianos and even electricity used by radios. Manufacturers face annual licenses and monthly tax filings as the plan seeks to close a two trillion dollar deficit with a 2 percent sales levy.
Bremer county panel proposes cutting wages of public employees by 10 to 20 percent based on pay bands 1500 and above. The four hour session in Waverly also recommends repealing school levy mandates and minimum wage rules, abolishing county coroner duties, and shifting duties to the sheriff. Other items include replacing taxes with income or sales tax funds and centralizing county purchasing.
John Griese of Denver announces his candidacy for the office of supervisor in the Second District on the Democratic ticket at the June primaries. He has lived in Maxfield and Jefferson townships, farms near Denver, and has long been active in local government including nearly 12 years as trustee of Jefferson township.
Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Green of Douglas township were held Wednesday March 2 at 2 p m at the home with Rev A W Gable officiating. Interment followed in Alcock cemetery. Born June 30 1848 in Limerick Ireland she later lived in Rockford Illinois and Be noted as wife of William Green born February 17 1864 in Beloit Wisconsin. She left eight children four sons and four daughters and is survived by nine grandchildren a large circle of friends and relatives from Frederika and area. Her sons George of Minneapolis Harry and family of New Hampton William and Robert of Frederika attended the funeral.
The eighth annual meeting of the Merchants Credit association of Bremer and Butler counties was held at the community building in Waverly. Over a hundred attended. Banquet served by Catholic ladies. Music by R. W. Leach’s band and Schield brothers performed. Bruce F. Gates spoke on New Competition. Officers elected include Geo. J. Kaiser president and E. G. Engelbrecht treasurer. Members from multiple towns attended and new members increased by 11.
The Easter Cantata Our Risen Lord and King will be rendered by the church choir on Easter Sunday at eight. It will be repeated on the first Sunday evening in April replacing the hymn service. The public is invited and a silver offering will be received.
Fred Quade a longtime resident died March 7 at 6:30 pm in Bremer county home after weeks of illness. Born June 22 1858 in Husan Germany he lived on farms near Readlyn and Tripoli before settling with family in Iowa. Survived by two sons Oscar and Ernest a daughter Mrs Edwin Bang five grandchildren and several siblings. Funeral set March 10 with services at Siegel Lutheran church and burial at St Pauls cemetery.
John C. Koch and B B Bennett re-elected directors for three years and C H Schmidt re-elected treasurer for one year at the Tripoli Creamery patrons meeting held Tuesday afternoon. About 35 members attended as the secretary reported total business of 70245.11 and butterfat figures.
A Democratic mass meeting is set for Saturday March 19 at 10 30 am in the Waverly courthouse to select delegates for the state convention in Davenport on March 29 and to address any other business. J D Hochberger chairs the Democratic Central Committee. A separate note reports Mr and Mrs F H Bockhaus and son Walter and Mr and Mrs H H Buhr visiting in Sumner with Ed Ehlert.
Miss Esther Meier of Frederika townsship married Gaylord F Johnson of Frederika at St. Peter's Evangelical church in Tripoli Iowa on Sunday March 6 at 200 pm The ceremony was by Rev K K Koehler Attendants were Mr and Mrs Alvin Smith A reception and wedding dinner followed at the bride's parents home The couple will reside in Frederika and are to receive best wishes for happiness and success
Mrs Johanna Peters, age 85, fell and broke her right arm above the wrist after dizziness while rising from a rocking chair at her daughter Mrs H C Detterding’s home in this city last Wednesday afternoon. Her right hip was severely bruised. she remains bedbound but is slowly improving given her advanced years.

The Waverly Go Hawks secured progress by beating New Hampton Saturday night and set up a Thursday 8 PM home clash with West Waterloo. Dubuque drew a bye and will face a strong opponent next if they beat West Waterloo. District games run Thursday and Friday at Waverly.
The infant son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Barr of Marquette Illinois died at Mercy hospital in Wa verly after six days. The father accompanied the body to Illinois for burial on Friday. Mrs Barr formerly Barbara Broadie of this place.
