Oscar Bany Wins State Dairy Diet Contest in Iowa
Oscar Bany of Tripoli Wednesday won the state Dairy Diet contest sponsored by the Iowa Dairy Council June Dairy month committee. He shed 32% of his body weight in four weeks, earning a $75 ward robe. The victory was announced during Golden Girl Dairy Day in Waverly. The women’s winner from Buchanan County started above 300 pounds and lost 38 pounds.

Tripoli night at Waterloo White Hawks Park on Friday July 8 announced by G R Rettig. Tripoli town band led by Harold Frese will play a 30 minute concert and open the game with the national anthem at 7 30 p m. Home plate ceremonies will include Tripoli representatives who promote the town. Special adult tickets offer two for 1 with regular 75 cents otherwise. children under 12 pay 25 cents. Band admission is free and Tripoli exhibitors will use a reserved pavilion section.

The Teenage Safe Drivers club held its second meeting Friday night at Town hall. Koch earns doctorate in nuclear chemistry at University of Chicago
Robert C. Koch son of Rev E J A Koch of Elmhurst received a PhD in nuclear chemistry from the University of Chicago on June 10. He works as a nuclear chemist at Westinghouse in Pittsburgh after moving there with his family in January. He is a 1950 Elmhurst College graduate and married Gladys Vanderobe that year. They have a son James Robert born November 1954. His father Rev E J A Koch is of Plato Minnesota, with other son Rev Walter Koch.
