Ground Observers to Organize Here Wednesday Night
Fourteen volunteers attended a Tuesday night meeting and a Ground Observer Corps post will be organized next Wednesday July 13 at Town Hall. S/Sgt Fahey of the Air Force will lead and return to train volunteers, who need only two hours weekly and need no prior expertise. Iowa will go on a 24 hour alert July 14 as part of a national air defense expansion. All interested persons and both sexes are urged to attend the Town Hall meeting.

Crash Of Light Plane Near Sumner Kills One Injures Another
A light plane crash on the Albert R. Lee farm four miles west and three miles north of Sumner killed Waterloo man Joseph E. Wynn, 26, and critically injured Jerry La Masters, 25. The two were training from Waterloo Municipal Airport, with over 80 hours each, when stall and nose-first impact occurred during a low-altitude turn. LasMasters suffered multiple injuries and remained unconscious at Sumner hospital. witnesses included Albert Lee Jr., Joyce Lee, and Harry Krause.
