Big Racing Meet Sunday Evening On Waverly Track
An outstanding program of run ning races is set for Sunday evening at the Waverly fairgrounds. Walter Sommer of the Iowa Thoroughbred Racing Association says the meet should attract strong entries from a wide area. Tripoli fans plan to attend after a Sunday afternoon baseball game and many will bring picnic dinners. Races start at 7 o clock with steel football bleachers moved to a vantage point near start and finish. Summer has three horses entered in the meet.

Last Rites For Mrs Driscoll At Sumner
Services for Mrs Elizabeth Driscoll 93 were held Friday at Berg Chapel. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery southeast of Sumner. She died Wednesday at Fayette County Home where she had lived since 1947. She was born November 29 1862 near Sumner. Surviving: son Newton Indianapolis and two grandchildren. Husband died in 1948.

Banys Win Dairy Diet Derby at Bremer County
Mr and Mrs Oscar Bany of Tripoli won the Dairy Diet contest sponsored by the Bremer County Dairy Council finishing with record weight losses. Oscar Bany shed 32 pounds and Mrs Bany lost 174 pounds in four weeks among 13 contestants. They will compete in the State Dairy Festival June 29 at Waverly.
