Tripoli council awards road improvement bid to Smith Construction
Tripoli Town Council awarded the 1963 street resealing and dust control project to Smith Construction Co of New Hampton for 10 000 gallons MC-4 at 39 cents a gallon and 8 000 gallons SC-1 at 22 cents. The plan covers 13 blocks plus school driveways with pea gravel and dust suppression, including stockpiling 400 tons at town parks. Work includes scarifying, inverted mix application on 4 Street SW, and completion by July 19.

County Assessor Publishes 1964 Budget Estimate
The county assessor announces the 1964 budget proposal. A hearing by the county conference board is set for July 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the courthouse in Waverly, to hear taxpayers for or against the expenditure estimate for 1964. The levy drops to 24,600 dollars, down from 25,400, to operate the assessor’s office. Taxable valuation rises to 41,141,301 dollars from 40,424,074 in 1963. An unencumbered balance of 2,000 dollars and other income of 250 dollars are expected. the balance will be raised by taxation.
