Local residents and visiting relatives filled Sundays with dinners, birthdays, and garden parties. Numerous households in Waverly, Denver, Cedar Rapids, and nearby areas hosted guests including the Maurer and Brase families, with celebrations for anniversaries and Father’s Day.
Janice Stumme and Vernon Tonne exchanged vows June 13 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Western Douglas in a double ring ceremony. Rev W H Lindquist officiated with Judy Wilson at the organ as Kenneth Stumme sang. The couple will reside south of Tripoli after a Minnesota trip.
The approaching marriage of Joann Buchholz daughter of Mr and Mrs Leo Buchholz rural Waverly to Darrell Blasberg son of Mr and Mrs Al win Blasberg rural Waverly is announced. They will wed at 730 p m June 29 at St Johns Evangelical and Reformed church Siegel. Joann a 1964 Tripoli High School graduate is a secretary at the Bremer county Sheriff s office. Darrell a 1962 Waverly Shell Rock High School graduate and Greer Technical Institute Chicago graduate works for Ambrose Auto Co Tripoli.
Mr and Mrs Arthur Bunger visited Mrs Fred Scharnhorst in Waverly who is ill. Cedar Falls guests B J Vaughn and family joined Walter Sommer’s hosts Sunday supper. Lake Mills visitors were Mrs C L Syverson and family at Mary Hankner’s home. Dr and Mrs Herb Bodermann and Mrs C C Eichmann attended Fayette on Sunday. Larry Busse and family dined with Jene Kirchhoff and Herb Biesterfelt. Leech Lake trip for Mr and Mrs Harry Buhr and Richard Buhr family. Kenneth Morgenson hosted Sunday supper in Waterloo with Mr and Mrs Don Feuts and others dining.
Brock Steven, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Patterson of Waterloo, was baptized Sunday morning at St John’s Lutheran Church Crane Creek by Rev. Geo Gundel. Sponsors were Jay Patterson Harold Zander Mrs Ewald Stumme and Arnold Zander. A dinner for sponsors was held at the Arnold Zander home with afternoon visitors including the Pavelee and Moeller families and Mrs Dennis Patterson’s birthday observance noted.
Dawn Marie Snyder infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Phil Snyder was baptized Sunday morning at Faith United Church of Christ by Rev FE F Puhlmann. Guests at the Snyder home included extended family from Osceola Charles City Denver Colo Dike and a great grandmother Mrs Hans Nielsen.
Mrs Henry Platte honored at a stork shower hosted at the Howard Platte home in Sumner attended by Mrs Fred Holm and Mrs Earl Jacobs with Mrs Ella Jacobs Mrs Marian Jacobs of Greene Mrs Leona Jacobs of Clarksville and Mrs Norma Sprague of Rockford on Friday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Chapin and Mrs. Ruth Woodcock with Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Kirchhoff attended the Chapin family reunion at Leader Minnesota on June 13. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Flesner in Deerwood and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hallett in Brainerd before returning Monday.
Ale and Mrs. Robert Zander and Denise of Knob Noster Missouri visited from Wednesday to Sunday at the Arnold Zander and Ellsworth Dancer home to attend the funeral of Russell Dancer with other relatives.
Mr and Mrs Rudy Piegers were Saturday supper guests at the Eugene Johnson home in La Porte City. In the evening the group attended a tap-dancing recital at East High School in Waterloo with Kathy Johnson participating in the program.
Mr and Mrs Raymond Thurm Readlyn celebrate 25th wedding anniversary with a 7 o clock dinner for 60 at a Denver restaurant Attendants and guests from Readlyn Denver Waterloo Cedar Falls Evansdale hosted by son Garylee Thurm Family note their two sons Garylee and Eugene live at home and farm near Readlyn A mock wedding followed the supper with several couples participating.
Gov Hughes reappointed Le Roy E. Vanderwicken 52 Grundy Center to the state printing board. Vanderwicken is business manager of the Grundy Register Printing Co.
Mr and Mrs Rudy Piegers Mr and Mrs E A Kleiss and Mr and Mrs Carl Buenger attended open house Sunday at Waterloo honoring Mr and Mrs Leslie Carstensen on their 25th wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. David Holders of Roberts Wisconsin stayed with Peter Mahlstedt from Monday to Thursday and then traveled to Los Angeles where they will establish their future home.
