The Tripoli Fire Department will play the Merchants in a refit game on the 96 date at 8:00 p.m. at the municipal ball park. Proceeds fund fire equipment purchases. Both teams forecast a spirited, entertaining matchup with advance tickets moving slowly.
Auditions for the Bremer County 4-H Fair talent show will be July 22 in Waverly at a site to be named. Eight acts will be chosen for the August 8 program with 8 to 10 minute performances. Each act receives 25 dollars plus a chance at 100 dollars in prize money. winner may advance to a Des Moines TV appearance. Applicants must be residents of Bremer or neighboring counties and belong to a Bremer district.
Former Tripoli youth Jerry Biermann, son of Mr and Mrs Biermann, earned a 3.5 GPA to make the dean's list for fall and spring at South Dakota State University in Kings.
Mrs Mary Michael ay is admitted on Saturday at Scholtz Memorial Hospital in Waterloo as Arthur Bunger announces a family event.
Hunemuller, a reevision serviceman at Amer Electric in Tripoli for 10 1/2 years, will merge Carrison's Radio with Warner Electric in Waverly. The combined venture will be named C.& L. io-TY and operate from July 1 with Hunemuller and staff commuting from their residence as they shift ownership and training to new management.

Mrs. Claude Shufelt, 82, died Tuesday evening in Frederika. Funeral services are pending at Rettig Funeral Home. Surviving are her husband, son Leslie of Fredericksburg, and daughter Irene Bemman of Frederika.
The Iowa Highway Patrol license examining team issued licenses to 72 people at Tripoli Town Hall on Saturday morning. Actions included 32 operator renewals, seven chauffeur renewals, one new chauffeur, 17 instruction permits, six temporary driving permits, plus several failures. The team returns to Tripoli Town Hall on Saturday morning July 17.
Four Bremer county 4-H members with an adult leader attended the Iowa Youth Safety Conference at Iowa State University from June 14 to 16. Attendees included Ruth Leuenberger Frederika Mary Lahmann Tripoli Linda Rathe Readlyn and Brenda Mueller Waverly with Mrs Elmer Foelske Denver. The program offered general safety training plus depth sessions in automotive and highway safety chemical safety home safety and recreation safety. Attendees will later teach safety in their home clubs and communities.
Mrs Leslie Lauck came home Monday afternoon from Allen Memorial hospital Waterloo where she had been a surgical patient after a stay following treatment.
Pupils of Barbara K Temple West Union present a piano recital Sunday evening at 7 30 in the former First Congregational church. Selections include solos duets and twin piano numbers by Diane Buchholz Margaret Rewoldt Nancy Burrow Vickie Burrow Susan Platte and others.
Tripoli FFA installed new officers for the 1965 66 year on June 16. Officers are Robert Towne president Richard Buhrow vice president Donald Hinrichs secretary Larry Shonka reporter Robert Leuenberger treasurer and David Peters set fines. The chapter plans a hayride for July 12 after the next meeting.
Tripoli Cub Scouts and fathers gather at Camp Ingawanis on Saturday June 26. All Tripoli Scouts meet at Tripoli Town Hall at 1 30 p m and should bring a father and another guest if possible.
The VFW Post 4013 will host a family dinner Tuesday evening June 29 at the Post Home. Barbecued chops lead the menu with serving from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Admission: children 75 cents, adults 1.50.
Six hundred volunteer Scouters were cited for outstanding service at the 17th annual recognition dinner at Camp Ingawanis. Cedar Falls council president William B. Anthony praised the 600 volunteers serving 26,000 boys across eight counties of the Wapsi pinicon Area Council. Tim Bowden of Bowden Bros. Advertising Co. spoke as service area chairman for the Boy Scouts of America.

Bremer county residents are expected to attend with at least 25 participants.
Bremer county Farm Bureau hosts a budget study meeting at Tripoli Town Hall at 7:30 PM on June 29. Harold Anderson of the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation will explain budgeting analysis for schools and counties. Public welcome, free lunch at 7:30, business session at 8:15. reservations by June 24.
Judith Ann Schuldt returned home from Allen Memorial hospital Waterloo after a badly cut foot from stepping on glass. She will use crutches for three weeks. Sunday afternoon visitors included Mr and Mrs F B Schuldt Mr and Mrs Merlyn Heidemann and family.
Cindy Bergmann five daughter of Mr and Mrs Harley Bergmann of Tripoli had eye surgery at Allen Memorial Hospital Waterloo Tuesday morning.

Mr and Mrs John Diaz and their family moved last week from their Sumner area home to Elk Horn.
Thirteen Bremer county 4-H youths joined about 1600 participants at the state 4-H conference held June 9 to 12 at Iowa State University in Ames. Attendees included Gary Heinemann Linda Matthias Gregory McGinn Karen Heffernan Kay Ormston Lynda Wylam Mary Tillamanns Marion Ingham Jim Burrow Kathy Smith Roger Lantzky and Roger Foelske. Mrs Harold Mueller served as chaperone. The event emphasized the citizen role of 4-H members in a global context.
Readlyn Community Library trustees announce a Sunday open house from 1 to 4 pm. Librarian Glennis Meier reports 2,486 books circulated since March 27 and 329 library cards issued, including 280 children and 99 adults.

Bremer county registered dairy cattle herds will compete in district shows in July with winners advancing to the state dairy show at Cedar Rapids August 15 to 19. Holstein, Jersey, Guernsey, Ayrshire, Milking Shorthorn, and Brown Swiss breeders plan events at multiple fairgrounds including Charles City, West Union, Decorah, Waterloo, Brooklyn, Clayton County, and Canton 2, with head counts ranging from 30 to 100.
Ames Iowa State University awards general scholarships to 333 upperclassmen for 1965 66. Recipients with 3 5 plus GPAs receive 100 dollars. 345 dollar awards go to those with at least 2 5 average and financial need. Laura M Hurmence appears among scholars.
Counselor Dr. and Mrs. L. J. Magnall and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Vincent with family spent the weekend in Des Moines. Magnalls visited Mr. and Mrs. Everett Engel in Madrid, while Gene stayed at the 4-H camp as counselor through today.
Tripoli planning committee outlines the tenth annual celebration set for July 19 and 20. The event name shifts from Poultry and Egg Days to Harvest Festival with Royal United Shows and free acts. Activities include a teen hop, flower show with 26 divisions, a kiddie parade, square dance exhibition, and a steer giveaway benefiting the Tripoli Nursing Home.

Donald E. Fish, a local high school English instructor, received an English fellowship to a National Defense Education Act program for high school teachers at State University College, Oneonta, New York. The eight week institute runs June 28 to August 13 with 45 teachers from across the United States.
The Ducker reunion will be Sunday June 27 at the Oscar Haefner residence in Waverly. A noon picnic dinner is planned with committee members Mr and Mrs Elmer Hoerman and Mr and Mrs Oscar Haefner coordinating. Ice cream pop and coffee will be provided.
All three Northeast Iowa baseball league games were rained out Sunday. The Tripoli at New Hampton game is rescheduled for Friday night at 8:00 in New Hampton with the return match moved to July 25 at Tripoli. League schedule lists Festina at Lawler and Fayette at Tripoli, New Hampton at Ft. Atkinson.
The Acker Matthias American Legion Auxiliary elected Peggy Abbas president and other officers at the June 14 meeting. The Legion post chose August Wille commander and listed several officers. Installations are planned for July at the John Thies home in Readlyn.
Iowa State Fair will split cattle shows into two five day periods beef August 20 to 24 and dairy August 25 to 29. Howard Waters cattle department superintendent says plan follows a 1964 survey and eases crowding while drawing new exhibitors. No late entries or early releases allowed.
Kuker Surge Service moves to a remodeled Main Street building in Readlyn formerly Moeller's Auto Mart. Owner Robert Kuker now runs the franchise servicing Bremer and Black Hawk counties with a on duty serviceman during normal hours.
