The Pries family largest in Bremer county held its fifth annual reunion at Readlyn city park on Sunday June 19 with 195 attendees. A morning arrival, lunch at noon, group photos, and an afternoon program featured readings songs and a short address by Dr Edwin L Thiess Urbana Illinois noting family hospitality and urging its preservation. The 1933 committee is named with Mrs A E Zierath Sumner as chair and local members coordinating next year’s gathering.

Post-ceremony dinner and music followed. couples plan to reside in West Union and Denver respectively after July 1.

A wedding was held at the Missouri Lutheran church in Spring Fountain on Wednesday June 8. Helen Stahlhut became the bride of Walter Bodermann in a pink and white ceremony with a ring-bearing procession, bridesmaids, and a reception at the bride’s parents home. Afterward the couple began housekeeping on a farm near Tripoli with best wishes from friends.

A Sunday birthday party marked the fifty six year anniversary of Herman Pichelman with relatives and friends from Crane Creek and nearby towns gathering at his home. Guests enjoyed visiting, cards, and a late lunch served by the hostess.
Funeral services for Martin Roggensack 88 who died after leg amputation were held at Salem Evangelical church Sumner then in Lansing Iowa. Born January 8 1844 in Mecklenburg Germany he farmed in Allamakee County 44 years. Surviving are his daughter Mrs E J Duhrkopf and several sons. numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Burial beside his wife. Mary Bopp leases apartments near Tripoli Mercantile Co moving this week. She previously lived near Minnie Krueger’s residence by the high school.
Turnout is expected to reach ten thousand to twenty five thousand for Waverly's Washington bicentennial celebration on July 4. Gov Dan Turner will speak on George Washington as citizen and farmer. a massed band, sixty floats, auto giro plane, and a massed band finale with fireworks are planned. Community groups from multiple counties organize the event amid a full day of parades, concerts, sports, and pageantry.

Panzer Produce expanded its operation by placing a three ton truck into service this week. The vehicle features a large rack to carry 260 thirty dozen egg cases and will support longer hauls. The plant now operates a fleet of seven trucks, moving over half a carload of eggs per run.
