Rainy Week Leaves Tripoli Humid With Storm Warnings
Intermittent showers failed to cool a hot humid week in the community. Rain amounts varied, Tripoli receiving about one third inch by Monday. other areas saw an inch or more in several showers. Warnings of intense electrical storms and possible tornadoes were issued for northeast Iowa Tuesday night. Temperatures topped in the high 80s to low 90s with nights near 63. Wind damage reported south of town included a toppled tree taking a power line offline. Local observer C W Ryan logged daily highs and lows through June 19.

A church lawn supper at St John s Lutheran in Denver begins Sunday at 5 p m with a follow up program. Band concerts occur every Wednesday at 7 30 p m in City Park followed by movies sponsored by the Commercial Club. Swimming lessons started Tuesday with A to M on Tue Fri mornings and N to Z on Wed Sat mornings. Bus leaves school at 8 30 with a 2 50 fare due on the first day. Cindy and Donnie Coontz of Cedar Rapids visit their grandmother Minnie Coontz while parents fish in Minnesota. Mrs Earl Trewin is a patient at Allen Memorial Hospital after surgery last week. Happy Hour club held a potluck on the Elmer Kueker lawn.
