The Tripoli promotion committee of the Commercial Club announced a Treasure Chest prize of 50 dollars this week. Last week’s 25 dollar prize went unclaimed. Geo guhrow failed to appear at the drawing. Consolation prize of 10 dollars went to Ella Milius but she was absent, so Leo Schuldt received it. Registration is open to residents 16 and older at participating merchants, with drawing names read in each store.

Readlyn Sportsmen Sponsor Kid's Fish Derby Sunday
Readlyn Sportsmen's club will sponsor a Kid's Fish Derby Sunday at Crane Creek Creamery dam, four miles south and two miles west of Readlyn. The event runs 2 to 4 p.m. with free refreshments and a stand on the grounds. Eligible participants are children up to 15, rods and reels are banned, only pole and line may be used, and each child must provide bait.

Ruth Reiter of Franklin Blue Belles was elected president of Bremer County 4-H girls at the Waverly rally day. Other officers include Karen Milius vice president, Karen Hassen secretary, Mary Monaghan treasurer, Iris Oltrogge historian. Special honors went to Wapsie Whirlwinds, Franklin Blue Belles, and Cedar Hums for attendance, uniforms, and mothers present. Funeral Today At Readlyn Church for Ernest Meyer
Funeral services were held today at Matthias Funeral home and St Pauls Lutheran church Readlyn for Ernest Meyer 57. He died Sunday at home of a heart attack burial in church cemetery with casket bearers listed. Meyer born June 21 1899 in Bremer county son of Fred and Mary Kraft Meyer. Married March 29 1928 to Alice Wehling. Survived by wife a son Kenneth Waterloo his mother Mrs Mary Meyer Waterloo two sisters Mrs K Farley Hazelton and Mrs Rose Dierdorf Indianapolis Indiana.

Youths of the Tripoli community are invited to a Friday night square dancing session at Town Hall as part of the summer recreation program. Sessions cost 25 cents per lesson with door payment and a second 25 cent fee if reentry is needed. refreshments will be served and organizers will assign age groups for instruction. 139 Youngsters in Red Cross Swimming Program This Year
About 139 area children join the Tripoli chapter water safety program this summer with 82 from Tripoli and 57 from Frederika. The Tripoli group swims Mondays and Thursdays mornings while Frederika meets Tuesdays and Fridays mornings. Chaperone schedule lists mothers by date from June 17 through July 25.

Tripoli travels to Denver Sunday to challenge the league leading Red Sox in a 2:15 p.m. game.
