The Pries family held their sixth annual reunion Sunday June 10 at Jahnke hall Bremer with about 200 attendees from Waterloo Sumner Hawkeye Readlyn Waverly and Bremer. Local attendees included Mr and Mrs Herman Pries Estella Chas Hay Arnold Pries and family H L Pries Millard Roy Bradfield and Mrs Mary Pries. A picnic dinner and supper followed. Entertainment included vocal and instrumental music by Arnold Homan Walter Zander and Richard Leistikow known as Lonesome Jim plus a one act play. They provided music for the evening dance which ended the festivities.

Salisbury Takes Own Life at Farm Home
Orson B. Salisbury, 58, committed suicide Thursday by hanging himself in the machine shed on the D. W. Chapin farm southeast of here. Despondent over his wife’s death two years ago and poor farming conditions, he was found at 6:15 by a son. He had previously tried suicide with a shotgun. Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the home. burial in Fairbank cemetery. Rev. Bowers of Waterloo officiated.

Rebholz and Drape, local contractors, purchased the school building at public auction for 337.50 dollars. Several bidders competed. The structure, built about 12 years ago, served junior high students when conditions in the main building became crowded.

The Drape relatives held their fifth annual reunion Sunday June 10 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Buchholz five miles west of Tripoli. Ninety six relatives attended from Waverly Denver Waterloo New Hampton Fredericksburg Fayette and Tripoli and listed many Drape family members. Ed Mattke of Fredericksburg was re elected president and Leo Drape was named secretary treasurer. The group voted to hold the sixth reunion June 9 at the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schroeder near Fredericksburg.
