Rites Today for Former Tripoli Businessman Einar Fergemann
Einar Ike Fergemann of Tripoli, a cafe owner and former local businessman, died June 5 in Washington at age 78. Survived by wife, daughter Mrs. Myron Nolte of Los Angeles, three brothers Harry of Waterloo, Walter of Tripoli, and parents predeceased him. Funeral services conducted today in Waterloo. Fergemann lived in Tripoli for 20 years and worked in cafes since 1916. He planned to move to Los Angeles to live with his daughter, Pavelee Readlyn. An accident in Waterloo Friday fractured a jaw for another local resident, hospitalized at Scholtz Memorial.

Ronald Donn of Pasadena California has accepted the job of high school principal for the Turkey Valley School system starting the coming term. He formerly taught and coached at Tripoli for six years from 1958 to 1964 before moving to Pasadena in 1964 to teach at Glendale Community School. The Downs will relocate to Lawler on June 18.

Rites Friday for Wife of Former Tripoli Minister
Funeral services for Mrs. Emil J. Steck 84 will be in Faribault Minnesota Friday June 11. She died in her sleep at her Faribault home. She was wife of the late Rev Emil J Steck former pastor of St Peters Evangelical church in Tripoli 1918 to 1924. They moved to Fairmont Minnesota in 1924 where he was pastor of the same denomination there. He preceded her in death. She has lived in Faribault since his death. She is survived by three daughters and three sons.

Library workshop draws librarians from 31 town libraries
Tripoli and Readlyn were among 31 Northeast Town libraries represented June 7 at a book selection workshop at the Cedar Falls Public Library, headquarters for the Eastern Iowa Library Cooperative. Sixty-two librarians and board members attended from member libraries. Readlyn and Tripoli delegates included Mrs. Lawrence J. Block and Mrs. James Block, plus Mrs. Don ald Koschmeder and Mrs. Mervin Meier. Cooperative members will receive $350 of a $500 grant for non fiction books. Earlier this year a Children's Institute selected a $150 children's collection. Edythe Cawthorne, state children's specialist, spoke about books for staff working with children.

Bremer county 4-H members elected ten officers at the Wartburg Chapel Auditorium Waverly rally Tuesday night June 1. Honorary members Mrs Emil Thoms and Ralph Juhl received the year’s acknowledgment. Legislature requires driver education for 16 year olds
The bill would require teen-agers to complete a state approved driver education course to be eligible for a license at 16. Those missing the course could apply at 18. Districts without a course can contract with others. State pays 30 dollars per student toward course costs.
