The Tripoli and Frederika communities will offer a summer swimming program for children aged six and up under Red Cross supervision. Lessons run Mondays and Wednesdays for eight weeks starting June 13 at New Hampton, with registration Saturday at Tripoli town hall and Farmers Savings Bank Frederika. The $2.50 fee covers 16 lessons, transport by school buses, and chaperones.

Cleanup at Tot's Lake Needs More Help From Club
Wapsie Sportsmen's club led most of last Thursday's Tot's Lake cleanup with few volunteers. A new call goes out for members to meet at 6 p m tomorrow to finish the work before Kid's Fish Day on June 19. A larger turnout should speed progress as power mowers are planned and heavy work was done by the small crew. After the event the site becomes a picnic area for club members.

TornadoLike Winds Rip Through Tripoli Area Causing Extensive Damage
Destructive winds of near tornado strength struck the Tripoli vicinity last Wednesday night causing widespread damage. Farm buildings at Snelling and Woodcock farms suffered severe destruction while other structures including a garage, shed, and a grandstand roof were damaged. Power and telephone services were restored within hours to towns and crews worked to repair the rest within a day. Weather cooled after with mild temperatures and over half an inch of rain.

Unlucky Woodcocks Hit By Storms In Iowa Farm Area
On June 2 1952 a storm damaged Buck Grove Creamery and wrecked the residence of M A Woodcock. The day before a windstorm struck the Eugene Woodcock farm near Tripoli causing substantial damage. The Woodcocks are sons and grandson of Rev A C Woodcock pastor emeritus of the local Congregational church.

Farm Barns Suffer Fire and Wind Damage Across Area
A fire damaged a barn leaving only the southern wall intact while several head of stock escaped unharmed. Neighbors aided in debris removal as rebuilding began. Other structures damaged include machine sheds on several farms and uprooted trees in town.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ewald Stumme 39 who died May 31 in a Waterloo hospital were held Friday at Matthias Funeral Home Denver and St. Pauls Lutheran Church Siegel. Funeral Rites Wed At Frederika Church For Charles Lemon
Funeral services for Charles Lemon 72 of Lime Springs were held at the Frederika Methodist Church with Rev. Carl Carlsen presiding. Burial followed at Alcook cemetery. Lemon died May 29 at his daughter’s Lake Field Minnesota home. He was born in Horton and married Bertha Clary in 1910. Survived by four children and two sisters.
