Meetings Called in Township Areas On Reorganization

The executive committee of the citizens committee on school reorganization announces mass township meetings to speed information on district reorganization. The first meetings are Leroy township June 3 at No 4 school house and Frederika township June 6 at Evergreen school with at least two committee members present to answer questions and discuss proposed district boundaries.

Household Goods Of Late Mrs Bunger At Auction

Household goods of the late Mrs William C Bunger will be sold at public auction at the residence across from Grace Lutheran church here. The sale starts Saturday at 1 pm and will be conducted by Otto Bunger as administrator with Earl Newbern as auctioneer and American Savings Bank as clerk. If rain, the sale will be held Monday June 6. A detailed list appears in an ad elsewhere in this issue.

Tripoli Girl Joins Iowa High School Journalism Workshop

Judy Schlichting daughter of Mr and Mrs Wm Schlichting of Tripoli will travel to Iowa City for a week long Iowa High School Publications Workshop at the State University of Iowa. She will study news writing feature writing editorial column writing copyreading editing photography business management and yearbook production with top high school journalists and University faculty guiding sessions and tour highlights.

St Peter’s church car wash postponed to June 4

Cooler Weather and Rain Boost Tripoli Area Crops

The past week brought cooler and wetter conditions in the Tripoli area with 2.23 inches of rain aiding corn oats and hay. Temperatures ranged from 43 to 73 degrees with cool nights and mostly cloudy sunny Memorial Day weekend weather.

Teen-Age Drivers Form First Tripoli Club

The Tripoli Teen-Agers Drivers held its inaugural meeting Friday at Towr hall with 40 teens and six adults present. Mayor Rudolph Piegers and Tripoli Commercial Club president G. R. Rettig became honorary members and encouraged safer teen driving.

Memorial Day Observance Draws Large Crowd In Town

A large crowd attended Monday’s Memorial Day program and parade on Main Street. Bernard R. Balch of Waterloo delivered the main address at the Town Hall, with services at Grace Lutheran cemetery. Tripoli posts of The American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars organized the ceremonies.

Local Entries Sizzle in Iowa Thoroughbred Meet Opener

The Iowa Thoroughbred Horse Racing association opened the season at Independence with local entries excelling. Dale Schmidt of Tripoli rode three winners on a five-race card including Ragtime, Clipper, and Loutey. Walter Sommer, also from Tripoli, had two show entries with Uncle Robb and Distinctive. A good crowd attended despite cold weather, with the next meet set for June 12 at Allison fair grounds starting at 2 p.m.

Funeral services were conducted for Roy Thurm 41 a Readlyn resident who died unexpectedly of a heart attack early Wednesday morning. Six Drivers Fined Totals of 79 In May Court

Mayor Rudolph Piegers court records show six drivers fined in May totaling 79 dollars. Cases include Steinbron of Waverly for parking, Holzschut of Fredericksburg for reckless driving and other violations with a 50 dollar fine plus suspended 15 dollars, OConnell of Sumner for parking, Bull of Tripoli for careless driving, Kammeyer of Tripoli for stopping at a sign, and Lampe of Sumner for speed in a residential area. Town Marshal Ed Bany filed the information.

Sportsmen's Club Plans Cleanup Around Tot's Lake

Wapsie Sportsmen's Club members will gather Thursday at 6 p m to clean the area around Tot's Lake children's pond east of Tripoli.
