The town council outlines a 136 822 budget for 1972 proposing 36 mills for functional funds and 4 mills for debt service. Debt service rises to support a higher levy and an overdraft from the old town dump. Hearing set for Monday August 9 at 8 00 p.m. in town hall with taxpayers invited to comment.
The Iowa Conservation Commission adopts changes for this fall including separate bow and shotgun seasons. Bow season runs Oct 28 to Dec 16 with sunrise to sunset hunting hours. Shotgun season runs Dec 4 to Dec 5. Landowner and tenant licenses are limited to one deer per farm unit and must be issued for the land where the resident owner lives. Applications require a $10 fee and must be filed with the commission.
Capt and Mrs Dixon Bunger and Mark departed Thursday for Tinker Air Force Base Oklahoma City where he will be stationed after visiting relatives and friends in the area since July 1.
An open class Dairy Show will be held Thursday August 5 at the Bremer County Fair starting at 2:00 pm for registered female dairy animals and grades in three year old and aged cow classes owned by Bremer and adjacent counties residents. Entry fees of 3.00 per head due by noon entry day. premiums 10 7 and 5 for first second and third. Four trophies will be awarded with exhibition health rules in place.

Meyer announced Social Security Administration staff will hold sessions at Waverly Courthouse Assembly Room on August 3 and 17 and Sumner City Hall on August 19 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The Waterloo office at 525 W 5th Street remains open weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with contact number 234 1554.
The Chapin reunion will be held at Chapin Park Sunday, August 1, inviting descendants and former residents to gather for a community reunion event.
Iowa unemployment insurance payouts rose in June with 52 059 weeks insured and 2 665 167 44 dollars paid. May totals were 2 530 719 08 dollars. Linn County led in payments at 302 968 64 dollars for 5 560 weeks. Black Hawk 252 677 58 dollars for 4 765 weeks. Polk 230 582 25 dollars for 4 533 weeks.
Senior Citizens of the Tripoli area will meet on Wednesday August 4 with the usual pot luck supper at 6 p.m. Cards will furnish the entertainment for the evening. All Seniors are welcome and invited to attend.
Donald Pecinovsky participated in the 29th annual Rutgers University Summer School of Alcohol Studies in New Brunswick New Jersey which concluded July 16. He is in the counselor training program of the Alcoholic Service Unit at the Mental Health Institute in Independence.
Paul Zander is invited to a regional Olympic wrestling training camp and clinic August 9 to 13 at Idaho State University in Pocatello. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Arnold Zander of rural Tripoli and will be a senior at the University of Iowa.
Eldo Kehe visiting his son Bill in Tulsa Oklahoma scored a hole in one Friday morning July 23 on the 131 yard 16th hole at LaFortune Park Par Three course He achieved the ace with a 3 iron while playing with his son the moment was noted in the Tulsa Tribune.
The Indians won the Little League summer baseball tournament held July 22 23 in South Park. Five teams competed in the series as coach Rich Waller oversaw the program and tournament.
The Wapsie Sportsmen's Club aims for a record crowd of about 3,300 at the twenty fourth annual fish fry on Sunday August 1 in Tripoli south park. Door prizes totaling $600 plus special drawings offer vacations and fishing gear with prizes donated by local merchants and manufacturers. Local entertainment includes Tripoli's Little German Band, with prizes available for attendees and prizes displayed at Klemp Plumbing and Heating window.
Early Monday morning vandals damaged Buhr's DX Station injuring a lattice fence bench and gas pumps. They dumped cans in the drive and main street. The beverage dispenser fronting the station was damaged when the attempt to break it open failed. Estimated damage set at $100.00.
Frederika native First Lt. Kenneth Nuss earns the Air Medal for flying more than twenty five combat missions in Southeast Asia. As KC135 co pilot he helped refuel FA, RFA and F105 aircraft from U Tapao and Kadena. He is slated to return to the United States and Grissom AFB in August.

Army Specialist Four Michael J. Smith 21 son of Mr and Mrs Benjamin H Smith Route 7 Sumner Iowa received the Expert Infantryman Badge at Ft Bragg North Carolina This badge is the Army s top non combat proficiency honor for infantrymen Smith earned it through mastery of combat tactics weapons firing and physical fitness tests along with written exams.

The Tripoli Women's Bowling Association will meet Thursday August 12 at 7 30 p m at the Town Hall. League meetings will follow the association gathering.
A midway carnival, fireworks order, Denver High School Band concert, baseball and softball games and other entertainment will headline the festival. Proceeds benefit Denver Park Improvements.
Juanita Louise Drewis, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Drewis, was baptized Sunday morning at Faith United Church of Christ by Rev. Keith Selberg. Sponsors were Mrs. Jim Lampe of New Hampton, Mrs. Jerry Snelling, Paul Magnall, and Tony Magnall. After services, the family hosted Rev. Selberg and family, the sponsors and their families, and the grandparents at breakfast at Maple Hills Country Club.
In a tense little league tourney Indians upset the Dodgers 2-1 in a seventh inning dash after tying the game in regulation. Earlier rounds saw Cubs beat Yankees 3-1 and Indians top Braves 5-3 while Dodgers earned a bye as league champions and then fell 8-0 to Cubs before the final.
Renee Sue Berg of Waverly is the third Bremer County Queen contestant. A Waverly-Shell Rock graduate and Augustana College student, she excelled in drama and athletics, with state I ratings in speech and NHS membership. Bremer County Fair Queen entries must be received by July 30 for the August 6 contest.
