July 29 4-H skating party at Rollerdrome Cedar Falls at 7 30 p m. July 30 junior 4 H boys demonstration contest at Tri Poli Town Hall 8 p m. July 31 entry deadline for agricultural exhibits Bremer County 4 H fair.
Dayton Dodgers 4-H Club met at Kenneth Rieck’s home at 8:30 pm with 2 leaders and 14 members plus some mothers. They planned to build and varnish 2x6 boards for calves with 4-H decals and set a July 19 meeting. Reports cover club tours, TNT and Jefferson groups with demonstrations, health papers, pledge and upcoming Achievement Day.
The Starlettes 4-H Club met at home on July 16 with 10 members two leaders and one visitor. August 2 was set for the local achievement show at the Oran Community Building. Demonstrations included Bound Buttonholes Attaching a Collar and Setting in a Sleeve. Tens N Teens 4-H held an all day workshop July 15 focusing on Cancer Society articles and planned their annual tour day. An August 1 Achievement day was set for July 30 at Sharon Biermann's home with uniformed photos and a style show for mothers.
The Tripoli FFA held its July meeting on the 18th with plans for a watermelon feed at the August meeting and selection of the judging team. On July 20 the team of Larry Kammeyer, Charles Dietz, Robert Towne, David Kerr and Jerry Neuwendorf competed at the National Berkshire Clinic, gaining hog judging experience though not winning prizes. A group including David Kerr Charles Dietz Darwin Boldt and Joel Wikner will participate further.
Debbie Bowers of Frederika spends Sunday to Wednesday with grandmother Hazel Bowers. Many readers note visits among St. Paul, Sumner, Tripoli, Waterloo, Oelwein, and other towns as neighbors and friends drop by hosting dinners, birthday celebrations, and social calls.
At Oelwein Dairy Days the judging contest unfolds with Mr. Bonefas, agriculture instructor and FFA advisor, coaching the judging team. Jerry NeuendorF reporter covers the event.
