Tripoli Town Council granted two liquor licenses after approving a change to closing hours. The licenses proceed to State Liquor Commission approval and include a Class C license for the Tripoli Bowl-In and a Class A license for the Tripoli VFW Post 4013 club. Closing hours were amended to 1:00 a.m. for bars and restaurants with 12:00 a.m. Saturday limit still in effect.

Final Rites for Harlan Schilling Held at Waverly
Funeral rites for Harlan J. Schilling, 43, were held Monday at Peace United Church of Christ in Waverly. Schilling died Thursday at Mercy Hospital in Waverly after months of ill health. A World War II veteran, he formerly ran a service station in Tripoli. His widow was Lois Drewis, daughter of Ernest Drewis of Tripoli. Survivors include five sons Larry Jerry Michael Kevin and Bruce all at home his mother Hulda Schilling of Waverly one brother Wilbur of Nashua and two sisters Mrs Ben Meyer of Tripoli and Mrs Robert Heiser of Waverly.

License Examiners To Be in Tripoli Saturday Morning
License examiners will be at Tripoli Town Hall on Saturday July 20 from 8 am to noon. Residents of Tripoli and the surrounding area may renew drivers licenses or qualify for a license if they do not already have one. Tractor pulling contest opens at Bremer County 4-H Fair
Entries are now being accepted for the Bremer county 4-H Fair tractor pulling contest. Entry blanks and rules are available from local agricultural instructors and county extension staff, with a final deadline of Tuesday August 6. The event, new this year, is set for Sunday August 11 at 1 30 p m with weigh-in at noon, open to residents of Bremer county or school districts within Bremer county. Dennis Olejniczak, son of Mr and Mrs Ed Olejniczak of Tripoli, has taken a teaching job in Decorah as head baseball coach and business and accounting instructor.
