Recreation Program Wrapping Up Sixth Week With Activities
The town recreation program enters its final week with baseball on Monday July 25 from 4 pm. Craft work at Town Park drew 30 children with many tile mat designs and upcoming filler application. Younger groups enjoyed crafts, games, and imaginative play while older groups continue 1 to 4 pm sessions Wednesday and Thursday. Friday crafts at Town Hall use plastic granules with optional shapes for plaques or trays. 25c per person for last day. Bowling interest has grown, and the final session is Thursday July 28 at 9:30 am.

Five Killed In Auto Crash West Of Tripoli Iowa
Five people died in a highway crash northwest of Tripoli on Highway 63 near the Highway 93 junction. Merlin Ruchotzke and his wife Virginia and their three children were killed when a northbound semi sideswiped their car and crushed the family. The truck driver George Joyce, of Tampa Florida, survived with injuries and faces charges for failure to yield. Traffic swelled at the junction as authorities investigated the overnight wreck.
