River Lock Keokuk to Get New Mississippi Lock
Congress approved a 300 foot river lock for Keokuk with a $1 million appropriation, saying the current lock is undersized and a traffic bottleneck. A separate last minute act provided $19 20,000 for Sioux City Municipal airport construction. A barn fire near Guthrie Center destroyed the barn but saved all livestock. The Mason Dixon Line now marks Maryland Pennsylvania boundary. Rhode Island claims the longest full state name and Delaware has three counties.
