Sumner special reports funeral services for Samuel Koerth pioneer resident who died Saturday after years of illness. Services set for Wednesday at 2:00 p m at Salem Evangelical Church with Rev J D Klooz officiating. Burial in Union Mound cemetery. Born in Germany he came to this country in youth and settled in Bremer county in 1868 working as a blacksmith. Survives include his wife Emil Ludwig, daughter at his deathbed home, son Otto Koerth of Fredericksburg, and two adopted daughters Mrs Frank Ludwig Sumner and Mrs H R Hannaman Norfolk Va.

Hand Severely Cut in Wood Saw Accident
Christ Schweer of six miles southwest of Tripoli sustained a severe partial amputation of his left hand while sawing wood last Saturday. The saw blade severed ten bones and damaged bone structure above the wrist. surgeon Dr. A M Stegeman reported on Wednesday that recovery was progressing and that while much use would be lost, the hand might be saved.
