Potter Siding Creamery Official Heads to Iowa City for Care
Wm. Bany secretary of Potter Siding Creamery Co returned to Iowa City for further treatment of a hand injury from a fall. A severed tendon was repaired with a graft eight inches long from the leg. Surgeons expect gradual healing and return of hand use.

Tripoli Wins Second in Plainfield Declam Contest
Tripoli placed second in the pre sectional declamatory contest at Plainfield Tuesday night. Lois Frese won first in both the dramatic and oratorical classes. Lawrence Shipp tied for second but ranked third on total percent. Florence Struckmeier took third in the humorous class. Plainfield led in total score, with Waverly third and Shell Rock fourth. Frese advances to the sectional in a few weeks.

Bremer County CWA quota cut to 248 men
Bremer County reduced its weekly CWA worker quota to 248 men starting March 2, a nearly 20 percent drop from 296. Women quota falls from 20 to 15. Skilled labor hourly rate drops to 80 cents while common labor stays at 50 cents. A county project to paint town names on large building roofs awaits Des Moines approval, with four painters planned for 600 hours at 1.20 and 52 dollars in CWA materials.

Birthday Surprise Party Honors Schroeder Kin
Mr and Mrs Will Schroeder hosted a birthday surprise at their home southeast of town Sunday evening for the twin brothers Alfred and Albert Bock whose birthday was Monday. Guests included Theodore and Lehne Bock, John Ohlendorf and family, Jasper Sewell and family, Earl O Connell and others from Frederika and nearby townships. Five hundred provided the entertainment with Mrs John Ohendorf and Mrs Earl O Connell winning high and low for ladies and Albert Schroeder and Jasper Sewell for men. A midnight picnic lunch closed the gathering.

Fred Knief Buried Saturday at Readlyn
Fred Knief, 70, died at his Readlyn home Wednesday night after a four year diabetes illness. Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 at his home and later at St. Pauls Lutheran church. Rev. Theo Frese officiated. He is survived by his widow, one son, three daughters, three sisters, and a brother, with relatives in Readlyn and nearby towns.

Prominent Waverly Businessman Dies At Hotel
J L McClure manager of the Hotel Farter in Waverly died at his apartment in the hotel Sunday at 12 30 p m from a heart attack four days after declining health. Born February 6 1877 in Mt Carroll Illinois he led the local Masonic lodge. Survived by widow daughter Evelyn Mersham of St Louis one grandson Dickie Mersham four sisters and one brother. Funeral at Methodist Episcopal church with Masonic rites. burial in Harlington cemetery.

Ray Couple Celebrate Sixty Years Of Marriage
