Frederika mourns the death of Daniel Leslie Bowers of Waterloo at 64 after a heart disease illness. Born September 9, 1868, in Frederika, he was a farmer restaurant operator and longtime church and civic worker. Survived by widow Anna, son Cyril Bowers, daughters Mrs F E Bagnard and Mrs R J McGowan, four grandchildren, and several relatives. Funeral held February 11 at the Frederika Methodist Church with burial at Alcock cemetery.

LaVonne, youngest child of Mr and Mrs Elmer Drape, died February 8 at 8 45 pm at home southeast of Tripoli after a brief illness of pneumonia and gastritis. Born April 27 1932 she was 9 months and 12 days old. Survived by parents sister LaVera 13 brothers Kenneth 10 Verlon. Funeral Monday from home at 1 pm and at St Peters Evangelical Church. Burial in St Peters cemetery north of town. Rev Theo Thomas officiating. Granddaughter of Mr and Mrs Ernest Kammeyer and Mr and Mrs Fred Bunger.

Two Are Hurt In Auto Accident Near New Hampton
Mr and Mrs Leo Droste of this city are recovering from injuries after a Sunday morning motor accident one and a half miles south of New Hampton. Droste’s car hit a bridge on highway 59 after being sideswiped by an unknown driver who fled. Droste suffered a severe ear wound requiring stitches and Mrs Droste bruises. Both were taken to the local hospital and later home. The car was badly damaged with bent front axle and shattered glass. The accident occurred around 7 30 oclock.

Frost 16 Arrested in Manslaughter Case over Bowles Shooting
Kenneth Frost aged 16 was arrested on a manslaughter charge after a rifle shot at Dorothy Bowles aged 14 in her home on January 3. Deputy Harley Ehlert took him into custody. he faces arraignment before Justice M M Kingsley with possible grand jury action set for March 21. Frost says the weapon misfired outdoors, then he pointed it at Dorothy and pulled the trigger.

Runaway Team Injures Local Farmer Near City
C E Kennedy, a young farmer living a few miles north of town, is in critical condition at Mercy Hospital after being dragged by a runaway team last Saturday evening. The whip tree broke as Kennedy rode with the lines around his waist, horses bolted across a field and onto a paved road where a passing motorist stopped them. Kennedy suffered severe scalp lacerations and widespread injuries. hospital reports say his recovery chances are very slim.

Hampton man dies after collision with Mason City driver
