The Hildebrandt family home burned Sunday evening near Tripoli with no one at home. Firefighters arrived around 11 p m, finding the building engulfed. The family Doris 18 Frederick 17 Robert 16 Willis 8 lost all belongings. a relief drive is organized by the Tripoli Commercial Club with Beisner Motor Co as collection point and Red Cross aiding housing and cash needs.

Ronald Warner of Tripoli was taken to Sehoitz Memorial Hospital in Waterloo on Friday after a mishap at the Warner Electric Shop left him with minor facial cuts and bruises. A pulley struck his face when a plier became entangled in an electric motor, breaking his glasses. He returned home Sunday afternoon.

Busy Tripoli license office reports Saturday activity
License examiners at Tripoli Town Hall saw 68 customers last Saturday with six new operator licenses and 32 renewals issued. Chauffeurs licenses produced two new issues and 19 renewals, no expirations. Six instruction permits were granted with zero driving failures. Two applicants failed the written test for new operator licenses and one expired chauffeur license was rejected for failing the written test. The team will return next month on Saturday January 21.

Funeral Services for Bertha Bockhaus Held in Cedar Rapids
Funeral services for 74 year old Bertha Bockhaus were held Wednesday at 1 p m in the Turner chapel Cedar Rapids with Rev Jack Oliver officiating. Burial was in Cedar Memorial. She died Sunday after a brief illness born May 9 1886 in Bremer county married June 3 1909 in Tripoli. Survivors include her husband two daughters Mrs Robert Werning Cedar Rapids Mrs E G Kieck Etowah NC two sons Howard B Carroll Woodrow W Dubuque a brother August Feldt Fredericksburg and seven grandchildren. She was a member of First Christian church Cedar Rapids.

Dallas Stirling 47 dies while deer hunting near Tripoli
Dallas Eugene Stirling died of a heart attack Saturday evening while deer hunting with friends south of Frederika. His body was found about 11:15 p.m. three-fourths mile from where the group split up. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Waverly. He was born December 16, 1913, at Shell Rock and married Dorothy Youngberg in 1944. Survived by wife, daughter Vicki, four sons, his mother, two brothers, and two sisters.
