Tripoli area scouts announce a successful recruitment drive. only one sponsor seat remains from Tripoli FW Post 4013. Four member local committee includes Harlan Johnson chairman Ray Bunger Dr L J Magnall and an as yet unnamed sponsor. Ted Olmstead to serve as Scoutmaster with V F W backing. Twelve boys signed up and expect to double once underway. Meetings set for Monday nights in V F W upstairs room. Eligible boys aged 11 or older may join.

Corn Picking Bee At Schellhorn Farm Near Fairbank

Tripoli High Exempt From Sectional Play In New Setup
The Iowa High School Athletic Association designates 192 schools for sectional play change. In district nine Tripoli Community Schools are exempt among the six largest per district based on five year attendance, joining Charles City, Waverly, Oelwein, New Hampton, and Sumner. The two sectional meets feed an eight team district tournament, then 16 sub state winners advance to the state tournament at Veterans Memorial Auditorium Des Moines on March 18.

Tripoli Trade Dollar Drawings Enter Second Week
The Tripoli merchants sponsor a three week trade dollar drawing offering 300 in certificates redeemable at participating stores. Saturday's winners received 50 and 10 dollar prizes. December 17 will host six winners for one third of the total at 3 pm at the American Savings Bank corner. Remaining tickets will be destroyed after each drawing and registration restarts for the final drawing on December 23. Santa will visit after 1 pm with a kiddies show at Town Hall from 1:30 to 2:15 pm and free treats.

Denver School District Voters Approve Bond Issue
The Denver Community School district voters approved a $95,000 bond issue on December 7 with 384 yes to 118 no and five spoiled ballots. Supt. Ramon Greene welcomed the result as the largest school election vote since reorganization. Construction is planned for next spring with completion tentatively August 15, 1961, for the 1961-62 school year.

Local Ray's Clothiers Grand Opening Draws 11 Winners

License Examiners To Be in Tripoli Coming Saturday
Driver license examiners will be in Tripoli at the Town Hall Saturday morning between 8 30 and 12 noon. Residents of Tripoli and nearby shopping area may renew licenses or qualify for a license if they do not already have one. Chauffeur licenses can also be obtained and renewed at this time. The team will not return until Saturday January 21.

Last Rites Monday At Clarksville For Bruno Ulrich
Bruno Ulrich 52 died unexpectedly at his farm home Friday. Funeral services held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Retting Funeral Home and 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran church Clarksville with Rev. Paul Matthias officiating. Burial at Lynwood Cemetery. Survivors include his wife Emma and son Dick, three brothers, and two sisters. Born September 21 1908 in Germany he emigrated at age 20 and lived in Clarksville before later moving near Tripoli. He served in the U S Army in World War II.
