A Tripoli Commercial club event sponsors a drawing for 30 hen turkeys. Tickets are distributed by 39 local firms and paid on account until 2 30 p m Friday. The drawing occurs at 3 p m at the American Savings Bank corner. Turkeys weigh nine to 12 pounds and are fresh frozen. Participating firms names appear in another ad. Traders in Tripoli are excluded. The Tripoli Commercial club announced year end holiday closing hours. Stores stay open tonight through Friday until 9 p m and close at 6 p m on Christmas Eve Saturday. They close Sunday and Monday, resume Tuesday. New Year’s Eve prompts 6 p m closing on Saturday December 31 with Sunday and Monday closed and business resuming Tuesday morning.

Funeral for William Mohlis in Readlyn
William Mohlis 77 died Wednesday in Rockford Illinois from a heart attack. Funeral services were held Saturday at Matthias Funeral Home with Rev Elmer Jacobs officiating and burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery Readlyn. He is survived by a daughter Mrs Edmund Truitt two sisters Mrs Otto Walther and Mrs Mary Adrian and a brother Carl.

Truck destroyed by Friday morning farm blaze near Tripoli
A truck valued at 825 dollars was destroyed by fire at the E. W. Nelson farm north of Tripoli Friday morning. Ivan Ingersoll of Waverly owned and operated the grinder, which was saved. Tripoli Fire Department answered and confined the blaze.

Farmers Produce This Week Notes 20th Anniversary
Twentieth anniversary of Farmers Produce Co in Tripoli noted in a two page ad in The Leader. The firm began shipping eggs from Tripoli on December 27, 1935, now ships over 450 carloads yearly of eggs poultry turkeys corn and canned products via its affiliate Tripoli Canning Co Inc. Elmer Wilharm says payroll is 250000 with about 100 workers year round and the firms pay millions to local farmers. The Tripoli operations began in a frame building north of the Tripoli Implement Co. that building burned in the early 40s and the turkey hatchery now occupies the site.

Tripoli High School basketball teams won their second doubleheader in a row at Fredericksburg Tuesday night. The girls won 59 55 in overtime led by Shirley Sauerbrei 24 and Darlyl Buls 23. The boys won 63 53 with Terry Dreyer scoring 16 and Carlyle Nicklaus 15.

Virginia Mueller Seriously Ill With Bulbar Polio

Four Teens Fined For Taking Beer In Wayside Inn
Four teen-agers were fined $25 and costs in Mayor Rudolph Piegers' court for taking a case of beer from the Wayside Inn. The youths, two Readlyn and two Tripoli residents, admitted the theft and had consumed six cans. The mayor suspended $15 of each fine pending good behavior and released them to their parents with privileges suspended as long as needed.
