Melva Smith 83, of Tripoli, died after being found at her home. Funeral services led by Rev. Keith D ibere were held Monday at Rettig Funeral Home. interment followed Wednesday at Fremont Cemetery. Born March 23, 1886, to Fred W. Meier, she married Charles Smith, who preceded her in death May 5, 1969. She is survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Denver special section reports Herbert Meyerhoff died Wednesday morning at Allen Memorial Hospital. Funeral services to be held Saturday at St John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bennington Township with interment at Garden of Memories. Rites were conducted by Dunkerton American Legion. Santa visits bring 370 kids to town hall
Three hundred seventy children visited Santa Claus in the town hall last Saturday afternoon and watched free movies. Each child received a sack of treats from Santa after the film. Santa will return to Tripoli this Saturday and invites all children to visit again.

Last rites were held for Mrs. Clara Matthias 79 of Readlyn at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. She died Friday at Allen Memorial Hospital. Born September 21 1896 in Black Hawk County she was the daughter of Fredrick and Emilie Foelske and married Louis Matthias in 1912. She was preceded in death by husband Wilbert son and siblings. Survivors include a daughter a son eight grandchildren one great grandchild and a sister.
