Santa Visits Tripoli for Kiddies Show Attendance Soars

Santa Claus made his second Tripoli visit on Saturday. About 450 children attended the free event and received treats after the performance.

Funeral Rites Held for Madella Biermann in Readlyn

Rites for Madella Biermann 57 were held Sunday at St. Matthew s Church Readlyn with burial in the church cemetery. Survivors include her husband two brothers Elmer and Arnold and other relatives. Social Security rep to visit Waterloo Sumner and Waverly offices in January. Bremer County Courthouse to close early December 31 to finish year work.

Funeral Services for Edwin Bany Held at Grace Lutheran

Edwin Bany age 73 died Saturday at Mercy hospital Waverly after a time in ill health. Funeral services were held Monday at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. A C Koengeter officiating. Interment followed at Grace Lutheran Cemetery. He had resided at the Bartels Home in Waverly after leaving Tripoli. Survived by three daughters Mrs Lorenz Sell Mrs Virgil Borchert and Mrs Richard Regal a brother Ted Bang and a sister Mrs Emma Quade.

Branden burg Krueger Auxiliary members visited the Nursing Home on December 11 to entertain residents with singing and gifts. A luncheon followed the program.

Bremer County Bond Sales Reach 75 Percent of Quota

November bond sales in Bremer County totaled 37 466 on Series E and H savings bonds and Freedom Shares, raising eleven month receipts to 409 475 for 75 percent of the 1969 quota. Emmet and Ringgold led area counties with 107 and 100 percent in November. Greene Montgomery and Jasper near quota at 99 and 98 percent. Statewide November sales were 5 668 663 with eleven month total 67 081 342 for 79 percent of the 1969 goal. Blackhawk and Chickasaw and Fayette figures listed for eleven months.

UNI Chorus To Broadcast Christmas Program On TV

The University of Northern Iowa Women's Chorus airs a Christmas program on KWWL TV channel 7 at 12 noon this Thursday December 25. Rise Barkhoff of Tripoli will sing with the chorus in the UNI program.

The Tripoli Jaycees hold their annual tree pickup on Sunday January 4 with all members meeting at 1 00 p m at Ambrose Oil Station to assist. Residents should leave their trees in front of their homes for collection.

Funeral rites held at Sumner for Romaine Brase 36

Romaine Brase 36 died December 18 after a long illness of diabetes complications. Funeral services were Monday at St. John American Lutheran Church Sumner with the Rev. John Mohr officiating. Emerson Milnes Funeral Home arranged. Interment in the church cemetery. He was born August 9 1933 in Douglas township Bremer county Iowa. He married Elaine Richmann at St. Pauls Lutheran Readlyn. They farmed near Sumner until ill health forced retirement. Survivors include his widow four children two daughters in law three sons one brother one sister and two grandmothers. A daughter Crystal preceded him in death.

The final Tripoli Christmas promotion drew winners with a grand prize of an automatic dishwasher and fifteen turkey dinners. Rita Fink won the grand prize. other winners include Henry Hennings, Carl Schwemm, Danny Buls, and many neighbors across Readlyn Henry Read more winners and alternates were listed to ensure dinners. Also announced were twelve grand jurors for 1970 and a January 5 report date in Waverly court.
