Santa Claus will arrive in Tripoli at 2:00 PM on Saturday December 16 and Saturday December 23. The event includes free entertainment for kids at the Tripoli opera house and special programs. Congregational choir led by Rev. E. F. Byers will perform the Christmas cantata Star of Bethlehem at 8 p m Sunday December 17. An invitation is extended to all members and friends to attend the service.
Depositors holding certificates in the reorganized American Savings Bank trust fund will receive their first dividend checks on Saturday December 16 or thereafter. A 10 percent dividend is declared with $16 000 to be distributed from the $160 000 amount set over to the trust fund last June. Final payments from Tripoli State Bank will occur next week with a final hearing December 18 at the courthouse in Waverly and checks expected before Christmas.
The board of supervisors approved adds of 1075 for special attorney fees in the Wilharm Munger prosecution, bringing county costs to 3086.50. Earlier claims listed Wehrmacher 880.20 Geiser 194.90 and prior items including grand jury fees and special counsel, with 424,600 to Geiser and 613.45 to Wehrmacher.
Mr and Mrs August Schellhorn entertained Tuesday evening December 12 honoring the hostess birthday anniversary. Guests included Mr and Mrs H F Pries and family of Horton H T Lau Mr and Mrs John C Kuhrt sons Kenneth and Robert Mr and Mrs Herman Pries and Miss Estella of this city.
The American Legion Auxiliary held a December 12 meeting with sixteen members. They discussed Christmas plans, sending clothing and food to local needy families, and a December 18 party for ex service children. A layette was provided and a Curtis Publishing Co. subscription drive raised 7.75 in commission.
Mrs. Erhardt Lahman hosted a surprise birthday party for her sister Doretta Dettmering at her Potter Siding home on December 10. Guests included Lucille Peters, Arlene Fink, Lois Frese, Viola Schellhorn, Irene Schlichting, and many others. Five hundred was played with Miss Elda Degelau taking high score and Miss Bennetta Zander consolation. Arnold Degelau won high score for the event. Refreshments followed hosted by Mrs. Lahman and Mrs. Dettmering.
Only one representative of a bonding house attended the bidding on the Tripoli school building bonds offered Tuesday afternoon. White-Phillips of Davenport, Iowa bid par plus 5 percent, but the bid was rejected by the school board. The board indicated plans to apply to the government for the full loan. a 30 percent grant has already been approved.

Miss Lezetta Dohrmann wed Carl Struck in a 2:30 pm ceremony at St John s Lutheran Church Crane Creek with Rev Dilges officiating. Attendants included Lucinda Dohrmann and Alfred Boeckmann. A reception and five o clock dinner followed at the bride’s home with about 45 guests. The couple will reside at the bride’s parents home and plan a future together.
Miss Norma Mahlstedt and Arthur Niemeier wed Sunday December 10 at St Peter s Evangelical Church. Rev Theo Thomas officiated at 4 pm with attendants Nora Mahlstedt Mildred Essmann August Niemeier and Will Mahlstedt. A reception followed at the bride s parents home with about twenty families attending. A shower and dance at Jahnke Pavilion Bremer followed.
The Ladies Aid of Crane Creek Church will hold a chicken supper in the church basement on Tuesday December 19. Serving starts at 5 30 PM and continues until all are served. Proceeds likely support church activities.

Artman Lindner 63 retired farmer and longtime Waverly resident died of a heart attack at 7 30 Saturday morning He was born in Cook County Illinois in 1870 and came here as a boy Funeral services were held Monday at 1 30 p m at Kaiser chapel Rev Carl Gabler officiated Burial was in Harlington cemetery He is survived by a sister Mrs Henry Schroeder of Waverly two brothers Chris Lindner of Waverly and Gus Lindner of Waterloo
Mr and Mrs Bert Harris of Clarksville receive 150 for funeral expenses and 3 weekly for 300 weeks from the board after finding their son Clarence, drowned while employed by Waverly Gravel Co at Shell Rock, sent home about half his yearly earnings. They had asked 12 weekly for 300 weeks.

Meta Luesenhaup resigned as Legion Auxiliary president. Mrs. Alice Ducker to serve as first vice president. Magnolia Curtis elected first vice president.
