About four hundred people gathered at St. Pauls parish house in Waverly for the Bremer County Bankers association sponsored 4-H club banquet. Leaders, members, and parents received awards including eight year, seven year, six year, and five year recognitions, plus special reading, leader, and county committee honors. An additional 160 girls received gifts.

Henry Prestien 88 longtime Bremer county farmer died at his Denver home Friday from complications of advanced age Funeral services were held Tuesday at Matthias funeral home and St Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church Burial was in Fairview cemetery Denver He was born August 27 1864 in Cook County Illinois married Eva Meyer March 16 1890 at Tripoli The couple lived near Tripoli before moving to Denver where they resided 57 years Survivors include son Leo of Pomona California daughter Mrs Paul Elliott of Waterloo brother John of Tripoli two sisters Mrs Louise Stephenson of Minneapolis and Mrs Emma Stenzel of National City California four grandchildren and two great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his wife one daughter one son and two infants He was a charter member of St Pauls and a longtime director of the Denver Savings Bank.

Four Bremer County Boy Scout Troops Win Honor Awards
About 350 Scouts and wives attended the fifth annual recognition dinner for the Wapsi Pinicon Area council in Waterloo last Wednesday evening. Elmer Wilharm of Tripoli served on the promotion committee. David W. Worthington of Decorah presented certificates to honor units. Troops from Waverly Plainfield Readlyn and Denver were among those receiving awards.

Salvation Army Active in Korea and Veterans Hospitals
A. Bolander reports the Salvation Army is active in Korea with 42 workers killed wounded or missing since fighting began. Weekly visits to veterans hospitals distribute magazines and goods. Mrs Vernon Anderson 26 Dies After Illness in Waterloo Hospital
Mrs Vernon Anderson 26 passed away Tuesday afternoon in a Waterloo hospital after five weeks of illness. Funeral services will be in Tripoli at 12:30 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. at St. Peter's Evangelical church with Rev. Theo Blaufuss in charge. Burial at Parkersburg. She was born June 27 1926 in Leroy township and graduated Tripoli high school in 1943. She married Vernon Anderson November 26 1950 in the Little Brown Church in the Vale. She is survived by husband parents one daughter Branda Jo four stepchildren Harold Dick Don Denise and two brothers Ernest and Loren.

Santa Claus Visits Tripoli Children Saturday

The model marks Ford Motor Company's 50th year with a new grille, center spinner, and “miracle ride” suspension.
