Tripoli High's boys and girls defeated Plainfield 71-41 and 47-34 respectively on Tuesday night. The Panthers led 16-2 early in the girls game and pulled away after halftime. Sauerbrei scored 33 for Tripoli while Smith led Plainfield with 34. In the boys game Tripoli pulled away in the second period, Olejniczak with 16 and Struck 14 pacing a 56-26 third-quarter lead as Tripoli toppled Plainfield 71-41.

George Matthews a Negro tenor, famed as a singing missionary, will perform a sacred concert at St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church next Sunday night December 9 at 8 oclock. Funeral Sunday for Mrs Malinda Lenius
Funeral services for Mrs Malinda Lenius 58 were held Sunday at Rettig Funeral Home and St Peter's Evangelical and Re formed church with Rev E F Puhlmann in charge. She died Wednesday morning at Allen Hospital Waterloo from diabetic complications. Burial followed in the church cemetery with six pallbearers. She was born March 28 1898 at Westgate Iowa to John and Anna Scheve and married Walter W Lenius on November 9 1922. They lived in Devon Downey and Tripoli while he managed lumber firms. She had been in ill health for over eight years and invalid the last three, surviving only by her mother.

Over 400 attended Grace Lutheran church services for the Golden Anniversary of the Ladies’ Aid Society founded in 1906. Rev Chr Schreitmueller preached on Christ the Alpha and Omega. Welfare Director and Assistant Injured in Oran Crash
Florence Dix, 59, welfare director, and her assistant Mrs. Elden Eichman, 27, both of Waverly, were hurt in a two car collision on Highway 3 one mile north of Oran late Tuesday afternoon. Dix suffered cracked ribs and bruises and was hospitalized at Mercy hospital in Waverly. Eichman had an ankle injury and was sent home. Driver of the other car Alvin Nuss, 55, of Sumner, was not injured.
