Voters in the Tripoli Community School district face a near term election on September 9 to fill two director seats. Jon W. Wilson has indicated his candidacy and will file nomination papers by noon August 30. Nomination requires petitions signed by at least 10 electors, affi davits of eligibility, and circulation in the district. A town hall session is set for September 1 with polls open noon to closing. Football Practice Opens at Tripoli High
Tripoli High School football conditioning began Tuesday morning with 44 players reporting for the first session. Head coach Robert Thurness says two daily practices are set until classes start August 26, with four conditioning days followed by the first contact session Saturday. About 50 boys are vying for the varsity squad, 45 present at the meeting and five absent. Enthusiasm is high, but inexperience is the main hurdle to a solid season.

Auto Crash Hospitalizes Two Near Frederika
Richard Rathbun aged 37 from rural Fredericksburg was hospitalized in Iowa City with head chest and internal injuries after a crash two miles north and two east of Frederika on the Bremer Chickasaw county line road. Jack Schult 18 of rural Fredericksburg suffered cuts bruises and a broken leg and was taken to Sumner hospital. Schult’s car was southbound and Rathbun’s eastbound at the intersection cornered by a corn field. The impact drove both cars south overturning Schulz car and demolishing Rathbun’s vehicle.

License Examiners Issue 70 Licenses in Morning Session
About 70 persons were examined by the Iowa Highway Patrol licensing office in Tripoli Town. The total included 3 agency operators, 1 each operator, 47 renewals, 13 chauffeur renewals, and 1 instructor permit. No water-related failures. three other failures noted. Examining team will return to Tripoli Saturday.

Tripoli Community Schools will open Monday August 26 with about 855 students reporting for a full day of classes. Start times mirror last year with 8 30 for junior and senior high and 8 40 for elementary. Bus routes begin around 7 40 a m. Fees include kindergarten book rental 3 00 and grades 1 6 5 00 grades 7 12 7 00. Insurance options cost 2 00 for k 6 and 3 00 for 7 12. Lunch prices 25 30 cents with tickets add 5 cents daily.
