Fred Nuss 73 of Sumner died after a second stroke at his home on Thursday. Born in Germany September 14, 1860, he came to Iowa at age 12, lived in Maxfield and Dayton townships, married Nellie Brooks in 1886, and worked as a carpenter before moving to the Brooks farm north of Sumner. Survived by widow, sons Jay and Claude, Grace at home, six grandchildren. Funeral Monday at home with Rev. Paul P. Pease officiating. burial in Wilson Grove Cemetery.

The fourth annual Moehling relatives reunion gathered about two hundred members on Sunday August 13 at Sumner park. They traveled from Bremer County toward northern Missouri but found drouth conditions 100 miles south, with farmers eager to sell pigs.
