Tripoli Canning Company will begin its annual sweet corn pack Monday morning. Manager Alfred Rieck said five hundred acres are under contract this year. Lost Mediapolis boy found asleep in car after sleep walk
A 12-year-old Mediapolis boy, Dennis, wandered away one night and was located asleep in the back seat of Raymond Gerth’s car when the fire department arrived to help. Cpl. James E. Ranard formerly of Tripoli was seriously wounded by shell fragments in Korea on July 31. The information came to his aunt Mrs. Lee Longnecker of Waterloo via a War Department telegram. Ranard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ranard of Bell California, said in a letter of plans for one more attack before rotation home.

Water Safety Show Ends Summer Swimming Program
A water safety demonstration and fun day replaced the planned August 15 show at the New Hampton pool. The event for Tripoli and nearby towns' children ran this Wednesday afternoon from 4:00 PM, featuring life saving demonstrations, diving contests, races for different age groups, and a silver shower finale with ten dollars in silver coins.
