Tripoli edged Waverly 3 to 2 in a 12 inning Cedar Valley league game to deny the visitors a chance at the pennant. Beisner reached on a misplayed fly, stole second, and Sommers delivered the winning hit. Krueger fanned nine for Tripoli as Rice struck out eight for Waverly. The season ends next Sunday with postponed games to follow.

The Plainfield based American Legion Auxiliary won the 3rd district scrap book prize for units under 100 members. Their scrap book, compiled by the unit publicity chairman, advances to the department contest at the state convention in Cedar Rapids. Mrs. C. J. Moulder and daughter Jaqueline returned to Davenport after visiting the Stewarts. Dr. and Mrs. Stewart took them to Cedar Rapids.

Herman Sien Hurt In Auto Accident
Herman Sien fifteen year old son of Mr and Mrs Joe Sien received severe cuts from glass and barbed wire and a wrenched back in an auto crash last Thursday afternoon. He was returning from Fayette with Willis Krueger Walter Bockhaus and James Bennett when James Bennetts sedan struck gravel and spun off road near Sumner. Sien was thrown from the car into an oat field while others escaped with minor bruises. The car was badly damaged and Herman was taken to town for medical care and remains at home.

City Purchases Deep Well Pump
At the regular town council meeting on Monday evening a purchase was approved for a new deep well pump to serve the north end of Main street. The current pumps have become inefficient and the new unit is expected to save a substantial amount of electricity used in operation.

Enlists for Citizens Military Training Camp Waldron Duecker
Waldron Duecker left Tuesday for Fort Des Moines to enter the Co. M. T. C. for a month. He received notice to report for duty August 2. Donald Hale took him to Des Moines, the trip on Don's motorcycle. Waldron had applied earlier in the summer and was ready to report when an opening occurred.

Death Summons Wm Buchholz Of Tripoli Community
William Buchholz a long time Tripoli resident died July 27 after a weeklong illness from kidney and gall bladder complications. Born December 19 1858 in Dalmin Germany he immigrated at 17, married Minna Carstensen in 1885 and farmed in Douglas township before retiring to Tripoli in 1912. Survived by wife Minna son Herman daughter Bertha sister Ida Seehase five grandchildren and many relatives. Funeral July 31 at home then St Peter's Evangelical Church with Rev. M Kleinan officiating. Interment Evangelical cemetery north of Tripoli.

Annual Krumwiede Family Reunion Held at Waverly Park
The second annual Krumwiede clan reunion gathered about fifty relatives at Waverly tourist park on Sunday July 31. Herman Volbrecht of California, visiting a month, was honored as guests prepared a peculiar dinner. Attendees included numerous Krumwiede relatives and guests from Waterloo Plainfield Tripoli Chicago and Potter's Siding. The group voted to hold the reunion annually on the first Sunday in August.

Bremer county has the most creameries in the state with 21, 20 of them cooperatives, per the Iowa dairy and food division annual report. The study notes 25 percent more creamery butter sold statewide and 68.25 million pounds consumed annually, equal to 27.4 pounds per person. Sioux County led in butter production from local cream at 6,420,890 pounds.

Youth's Eye Injured by Glancing Nail Near Town
Erwin Tonne aged 13, son of Mr and Mrs Will Tonne, living south of town, suffered a serious left eye wound while helping repair a cat bin. The nail flew back striking his eye during the work. He was taken to Mercy hospital in Waverly where surgeons did stitches. Outcome of vision remains undetermined.

Fire destroys A. H. Franklin farm home near Readlyn
A. H. Franklin's large residence on the Albert Franklin farm two and a half miles northeast of Readlyn was destroyed by fire on Friday morning. Readlyn and Tripoli fire departments aided neighbors to save some furniture and clothing. The blaze is traced to a gas stove.

Fire at the Vanderwalker residence, now occupied by John Lange and family, started by a kerosene stove. Kitchen paper and woodwork burned and scorched. Mrs. Lange suffered severe arm burns while trying to douse the blaze. Fire department responded. blaze controlled with no further damage.
