Two Cars Collide on 59 Near Frederika Sunday Evening
Arnold Bergman of Douglas township suffered a dislocated shoulder when his Model T Ford collided with William Hagenbuch's Hudson sedan on Primary 59 about three miles north of Frederika. Both cars left the road and rolled into a ditch. Each vehicle carried one additional passenger. all others escaped with minor bruises and a severe shaking.

Farm Barn Destroyed By Fire West Of Readlyn
A large barn and its contents were destroyed by a blaze in a gasoline shed on the Carl Platte farm three miles west of Readlyn Tuesday around nine. A gasoline engine feeding a water pump ignited the shed attached to the barn. Livestock were removed but hay and grain were lost. Denver and Readlyn chemical trucks failed to save the structure. neighbors prevented spread to nearby buildings. The 42 by 70 foot barn had a hollow block basement and the loss will be partially insured.

Pat J Butler founder of The Tripoli Leader who started the paper in 1894 stopped in Tripoli for a few hours en route from Elma to Dubuque. He published the Leader for years and has spent two decades in Dubuque newspapers, now in the Telegraph Heralds commercial department. He had attended his brother in law's funeral in Elma.
