Daylight savings time will go into effect on Sunday April 25 at 2:00 a.m. People should set their clocks ahead one hour before bed Saturday night so the change occurs when they wake Sunday morning. The official date for the change is 2:00 a.m. April 25.
Tripoli High Senior David Alcock competes in the Fifteenth Annual Iowa Industrial Education Exposition at the University of Northern Iowa Cedar Falls on May 8. His entry a metal spun aluminum table lamp with minor lathe work. He is a senior son of Mr and Mrs Leland Alcock and is sponsored by John Poock of Tripoli Community School.
The James W. Wolf family of Plainfield has been chosen as the Farmers Home Administration Farm Family of the Year by the local FmHA County Office. They are recognized for sound credit use and community rural development as they join a list advancing to district and state levels.

Annual meeting of Tripoli Development Corporation held in city hall approved minutes and treasurer report. Quorum rules waived and officers elected. Shareholders elected two directors for three-year terms Duane Holm and Wm Hurmence replacing retiring Robert Kuhrt and Robert Sassman. Carryover directors are Paul Voetmann L L Moeller and Ray Fink. Officers to be elected from the five member board.
The annual Lions Athletic and Senior Banquet is planned for April 22 in the middle school multi purpose room at 7:00 p.m. Frosty Mitchell, former KWWL sportscaster and current owner of KGRN in Grinnell, will be the principal speaker. Honors go to students in sports during the past year and the 1976 graduates. Prepared by local church women and served by Lions members. Reservations required.

Maple Hills Country Club marks its sixth season with a kickoff dinner on Saturday April 24 in the Red White and Blue room starting at 7 15 p m. Ken Green UNI golf coach speaks and a golf film will be shown. memberships dues are $60 for individuals $100 for families and $50 for social members with payment due by installments.
Russell Solheim announces a community improvement meeting on Thursday April 29 1976 at 7 30 p m in Sumner Legion Hall. The Iowa Community Betterment Program aims to boost local involvement with eight population categories and cash awards for top five towns funded by Iowa utilities. The Iowa Development Commission will supply a book to document projects. All residents are invited.
Tripoli High presents its annual comedy rock musical God Love and Mother Earth in the high school gymnasium Friday and Saturday April 23 and 24 at 7 30 p m. Two casts perform with local students in key roles. Admission charged. sale April 24 at 108 Maple Drive featuring rugs clothing boots and more. Spring Roundup for Cub Scout Pack 32 set April 26 at City Hall for 8 10 year olds with parents.
Tripoli High finished with 34 points in a April 15 triangular meet as Jesup won with 76 and South Winneshiek 73. Tim Brase led with 112 feet discus and Tim Phelps vaulting 9 feet 6 inches. Coach Gary Johnson praised bright moments and noted the team’s youth limits.
Tripoli and Sumner fire departments finalize a temporary cooperative fire call program for rural areas along the Plum Creek bridges on highway 93 and the Wapsipinicon River bridges on the Westgate Bremer road. The agreement follows a service gap created by a closure.
The 3rd district meeting of W. W. I Barracks and Auxiliary will be at Tripoli City Hall on Sunday April 25 with registration at 12 30 and lunch after. The Barracks and Auxiliary meet April 28 at 1 30 in the V F W hall in Waverly to discuss bridge reconstruction plans. Fire chiefs urge rural residents to note which side of bridges farm locations are on when calling in fires to aid routing. The mutual aid agreement ensures prompt protection for the affected rural area.
Tripoli City Council met in special session Monday night to open bids on 175000 in general obligation street improvement bonds and 28000 in special assessment street improvement bonds. Carleton D. Beh Company of Des Moines won both bids with rates around 5.47 and 5.92 percent and final payments in 1991 and 1985 respectively. There were four bidders in each category.
A state licensed pre-school named A to Z will open this fall in Tripoli for children ages 31% to 5. The program runs Monday Wednesday and Friday from 9 30 to 11 30 am at Mrs Richard Meyer home.
