Fire damages Oran Lumber Co grain elevator
A blaze last Thursday night caused about 35000 dollars in damage by destroying the Oran Lumber Co grain elevator. Fire departments from Oelwein Readlyn and Fairbank contained the fire, preventing spread to other buildings. The elevator held 18500 bushels of feed and grain, reported Dwight Dugger, the company manager.

Robert Platte aged 14, son of Mrs Olga Platte, fell on a pitchfork at his farm home Sunday injuring his eye. He was taken to Allen Memorial hospital Waterloo where his condition Monday was described as fairly good.

Funeral Here Monday For Walter Mahizahn Lifetime Resident
Funeral services were held Monday at Rettig Funeral Home for Walter Mahizahn 73 lifetime resident of this area who died suddenly last Friday at his farm home northeast of Tripoli. Albert Leisinger Escapes Injury In Crash Sunday
Albert Leisinger, 41, of Waverly, escaped injury Sunday night after missing a curve at the junction of Highways 63 and 93 and flipping the car several times. He was treated overnight at Mercy hospital and released Monday. The car was demolished and Leisinger was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, posting $500 bond with Justice W H Diercks in Waverly.
