Mabel Hartman Weds Erwin Hay in Crane Creek Ceremony
The marriage of Mabel H Hartman daughter of Mr and Mrs Carl Hartman of Fairbank and Erwin H Hay son of Mr and Mrs Carl Hay of Crane Creek was solemnized Monday April 6 at 2 PM at the Crane Creek church by Rev John Dilges in the presence of relatives. The bride wore white satin with veil and coronet and carried pink rose and sweet pea bouquet. Attendants were Estella Pries and Margaret Eichmann in orchid crepe. Best men were Carl Hartman Jr and LaVern Hay. Anita Hartman flower girl in white carried a basket. A reception followed at the groom’s parents farm with about twenty families invited. A three course dinner was served in orchid and white decor. A large decorated wedding cake centered the bridal table. Six girls in white served as waitresses and later dancing, cards and a late midnight supper followed. The couple will live on the groom’s parents farm.

Oberdorf Dies After Illness in Bremer County
Louis C. Oberdorf 83 died at home after five years of illness from a stroke. He lived in Bremer county about 75 years, taught in county schools 18 years, and served as county superintendent twice. Funeral held at Methodist church with burial at Harlington. The same week, Miss Marion Hattendorf wed C Raymond Sohrt at St Marys Catholic church with relatives and telephonists attending. Nashua man recovers $5 after youths’ short change incident
Marshal Frank Mason picked up two young men who had short changed a Nashua man out of five dollars. They turned off Bremer avenue at the Marshall Canning factory. The Nashua man said if they would return his money he would not harm them, which they were glad to do.

Des Moines Iowa April 7 Iowa dairymen win a four year fight as the 44th General Assembly passes an inspection fee and five cent per pound tax on oleomargarine sold in the state. One of Tripoli's oldest structures on Main Street, the Tripoli hotel, is being remodeled after a receivership sale. A. F. Rebholz and crew began interior changes this week. The front will become a large jewelry shop for Mr. Robinson, joined by Wayne Acken for a radio shop. the rear will be Rebholz's warehouse and workshop. Remodeling aims to expand the entrance and add display windows, improving the business district and filling the last vacant Main Street building.
