At Readlyn town election voters re elected the ticket with Mayor John Widdel and council members Chris Miller H J Schumacher H A Griese Ernest Spier John Richman. Assessor Wm F Meyerhoff and Treasurer E C Stumme were chosen. Eighty five votes cast.
Boxing contest at the Cass Opera House was postponed due to the Merchants Fair and scheduled for Thursday night April 2. Manager Steve Cass plans several matches including Lynn Chapin of Tripoli. Miss Viola Williams of Waverly returned to Wartbare College after visiting her parents.
A blizzard stranded a Towner school bus for 36 hours, killing five children and leaving others unconscious. Rescue crews found six survivors in critical condition. driver Carl Miller missing. Plane attempts to reach the area failed amid 10 foot drifts.
Mr and Mrs Bert Morf and children drove to Cedar Falls Sunday and called at the home of Mr and Mrs Henry Brown.
Allison Iowa—A court dissolved an injunction to restrain tuberculin testing in Butler County after a crowded hearing. Judge Edwards ruled the injunction moot as objectors failed to present objections. Farm bureau tensions surfaced with charges of misused funds and concerns over costs of 34500. Some farmers circulated petitions to withdraw from the bureau, while others defended the program as beneficial though costly.
No morning service today at 11:00. Sunday evening at 8:00 Rev. Hardcastle delivers the Easter message with communion and reception of church members. Special master music planned for the service.

Easter message proclaims Christ raised from the dead bringing victory over gloom. Sunday School gathers at 9 00 a m with preparatory Holy services to follow. Church invites all to join in praise and assurance of blessed eternity.
Waverly Iowa voters kept the Citizens' ticket intact with F A Osincup unopposed for mayor and 1063 votes. Carl Strottnown and H C Nolting also ran unopposed for assessor and treasurer with 1097 and 1088 votes respectively. Council members in all wards were elected or re elected with varying tallies.
Tripoli endured the season’s worst storm as 12 inches of snow fell from Friday night into Saturday. Strong winds caused highway closures, drifts of five to six feet, and widespread traffic disruption. Plows struggled, roads to Sumner and Waterloo were marginal, Readlyn and nearby routes opened late, and rural mail service halted. Snow melted by Sunday with drifts shrinking as ground moisture predicted for spring.
Allison Iowa two hundred fifty gallons of alcohol were taken to Mercy hospital at Waverly by Sheriff Henry Burma for medicinal purposes. The liquor was seized during recent raids and stored at the Butler county jail.

Divorces are delayed as several cases settle out of court and jury work appears light. The Roberts divorce is postponed to June. Nels Jensen, who pleaded guilty to obtaining property by false pretenses, received six months in county jail but was paroled to Sheriff Sager. Mrs. E A Sager and daughter Margaret depart for an auto trip into Mexico and Texas seeking improved health. E A Sager will join them in San Antonio while his wife and daughter stay longer.
Leonard Racker who went to Iowa City last week to consult a knee specialist came home the first of the week after encouragement and help. His knee is in a steel brace to rest it completely. He cannot move about while in the cast and will conduct his law business from his home at 413 First Street S. E.
Charley Thompson of Shell Rock who runs gas and oil wholesale and retail seeks a local site for a new station. He eyeing the West Side Drug store corner and would raze the building to erect the station if talks succeed.
Henry Ohlendorf of this city injured his hand badly while helping saw wood at Will Harrington place. In reaching to arrange a stick of wood his hand touched the saw and four fingers were nearly severed, but doctors think amputation may not be necessary.
A horse owned by Herman Bahe east of the city was struck and killed last week when the animal was hit by a truck as Bahe turned into his driveway with a load of oats. The incident occurred on Route 10 near Bahe’s property. No further injuries were reported.
Becomes Citizen William Droste of Fremont township was granted U S citizenship papers by Judge M H Kepler in court here last Monday. Mr Droste has been in this country since 1901.
August Judisch of the city water plant underwent kidney surgery in Iowa City. John Fangman and Mrs. W Weiditsekka manage plant duties as she recovers from flu and eye issues. Mrs. Ralph Laird travels to Nashville to visit daughter Laura Gail at college. Bruce Grassfield had tonsils removed at Mercy hospital. Jack Brierly received surgery for rupture at Mercy. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Beebe of Detroit plan a visit to relatives in town. Sam Norman hosted 32 relatives for a Saturday evening gathering. Thirty five local Boy Scouts plus Legion and Orphan Home troops travelled to Fayette on Tuesday.
Gustav Buls aged 76 died Friday at Mercy hospital after cancer surgery. Born in Berlin, he came to the U S as a boy and lived on a farm before moving to Waverly 25 years ago. Survived by widow Minnie Shauer and two daughters Bertha Miller and Ida Schwartz. Funeral at Peace Evangelical church at 1 30 pm Monday, burial in Harlington cemetery.
Robbers broke into the White Star Pool Hall Tuesday night after closing, escaping with about seven dollars in cash and merchandise. Entry was made by tearing a screen from a basement window, pushing open a lightly fastened window, then lifting a trap door to reach the cash register and pennies. This marks the second burglary in Tripoli within six months, following Joe Sien’s clothing store theft last fall.
The Chappel Kennel Foundation of Rockford Illinois seeks nominations for a national boy and his dog to be photographed and painted by a famous artist. A $250 cash prize and immortalized likeness await the winner. Entries due by September 15 1931.

An inexpensive 25 cent classified ad in the Leader’s want ad column is advertised as a fast seller for a used car, hatching eggs, purebred hogs, and a variety of other items. The notice markets the ad as an efficient way to reach buyers.
Des Moines reports the Iowa legislature struggles with tax reform. Senate and House clash over county assessor and income tax bills, with petitions against the assessor and strong support for the income tax. A Senate amendment attempted to force House action, but the House defeated the assessor measure. Governor Turner appeals for action, urging tax equalization, while committees work through nearly a thousand bills ahead of adjournment.
