Traffic on 93 North of Tripoli is now closed while two bridges over Plumb Creek are rebuilt. The five month closure redirects through traffic via U.S. 63, Iowa 3, and Iowa 150. United Contractors, Inc. of Des Moines, Iowa is the prime contractor.

Tornado Warning System Signals Mission of Town Sirens
The town issues a tornado warning with a continuous siren blast lasting two to five minutes urging immediate shelter. An all clear signal follows as a wailing siren for about 70 minutes ending the alert.

Funeral services for Rosa Lampe 67 of Frederika were held Friday at St John Lutheran Church Western Douglas with burial in the church cemetery. The Bremer County Cancer Board held a March 29 meeting in the First National Bank community room with thirteen members present. Memorials totaling 1537.75 since September 1, 1975 were announced, and local Legion groups donated 131 to the American Cancer Society. A Certificate of Authorization was accepted, Roberta Bamker named historian, Avis McGinn chosen for the Harold Morgan Award, and a nominating committee set.
