Tripoli Nursing Home board prepares a multi phase remodel including enlarging single rooms to deluxe two bed rooms and converting store rooms to laundry. A prebid conference is set for April 8 at 7 30 p m for bidders with questions. Sealed bids to be opened April 13 at 7 30 p m. Plans and specs available at the administrative office.
Russell Solheim announces two landscape meetings on April 8 1976 in Tripoli Town Hall at 1:30 p.m. and in Waverly Library basement at 7:30 p.m. Extension horticulturist Cott of Iowa State University will discuss planting and care of ornamental shrubs and trees. Senior Citizens plan anniversary pot luck at City Hall April 1 with ice cream and cake.
January sales of Series E and H savings bonds in Bremer County reached $82,191, representing 12 percent of its 1976 quota. Iowa total January 1976 sales were $9,754,820, up $1,950,274 from December 1975, at 9 percent of the statewide quota of $111,900,000. Other area counties show varied results with Black Hawk $419,602 8 percent, Butler $36,219 8 percent, Chickasaw $46,797 10 percent, and Fayette $107,266 11 percent.
Tripoli High begins spring sports with boys and girls track teams set for openers next week. The girls race in a quadrangular at West Union on April 6 with coach Tom Dutcher naming a large, hardworking squad strong in middle distances and field events.
Tripoli area housing corporation will hold a public meeting Monday April 12 at 7 p.m. in city hall to gather information and interest in a new senior citizen housing unit for the area.
The Denver Lions announce their annual Winter Carnival slated for Saturday April 3 from 6 30 to 10 00 p m at the High School Gym with door prizes and concessions. Lions workers should report by 2 00 p m for setup and takedown follows the event. Lion wives are asked to supply two cakes for the cake walk and help with housing unit fund raising to aid Tripoli's housing needs. about 1500 to 2000 dollars is sought with FHA loan to cover the balance.

Extension Director announces a training session for farmers on pesticide application. State Sen. H. L. Heying Democrat incumbent from West Union filed nomination papers for a new term in the 8th District State Senate. Heying chairs the Natural Resources Committee and has long served as Chaplains of the day since 1964. Born in Winneshiek County he is a farmer businessman and active in Rotary Chamber of Commerce and church boards. He was appointed February 1976 to the Capitol Planning Board.
Saturday April 3 marks the THS all sports banquet to honor basketball track football golf wrestling baseball softball and cheerleaders. Tripoli Commercial Club and Athletic Department at Tripoli Community School coordinate a potluck dinner with 7:00 pm serving in the high school gym.

Irvin Stahlhut 54 of Readlyn died after contacting a high voltage line while fixing a power problem on a Gary Hamilton farm 30 miles southwest of Readlyn. Funeral set Thursday at 2 p.m. at St Matthew’s Lutheran Church Readlyn with burial in St Matthew’s Cemetery. He is survived by wife Florence a daughter Kim Caves Kenosha Wis and a son Ron.
The Tripoli City Council replaces part time posts with full time roles. John Wolf named city hall custodian and will handle gar bage and street work when needed. Rodney Milius hired for street duties and water system training with plans to license. Part time clerk services end April 1 to save costs. Rules set for all city employee responsibilities.
Wapsie Sportsmen's Club members are reminded of the Ladies night dinner planned for Friday April 2 at Maple Hills Country Club. Reservation deadline was March 30 to Lloyd Kammeyer.
